Collaborate with the Bennett Lab as a Molecular Technician focusing on grassland ecosystems at the University of Saskatchewan. Engage in vital research examining multi-trophic interactions.
This role is a fixed-term contract within the Department of Plant Sciences, where you will be instrumental in DNA extraction, sequencing library preparation, and critical sample processing. Your work will support collaborative studies aimed at understanding the effects of plant genetic compositions on soil microbial communities. Strong interpersonal skills are required for effective coordination across various research groups.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct DNA extraction and sequencing for samples
• Process and analyze soil and insect samples
• Coordinate sample collection across multiple projects
• Engage in NIR spectroscopy and elemental analyses
• Support multi-disciplinary research initiatives
Requirements:
• MSc in ecology, agriculture, or related sciences
• Experience with DNA library preparation and extraction
• Knowledge of high throughput sequencing methods
• Excellent verbal and written English skills
• Motivated individual with solid organizational skills
