Salary Range: $77,717.16 to $83,850.00 annually (37.5 hours per week)

The North Bay Indigenous Hub (NBIH) will provide a wide range of programming services including traditional healing, primary care, health promotion, chronic disease management, family-focused maternal/child health care, mental wellness care, diabetes care, and a culturally integrated licensed day care facility. All of the programs are to be delivered in a culturally safe manner to the local urban Indigenous population in addition to our partner First Nations, Nipissing, Temagami and Dokis First Nations. This Indigenous Primary Health Care team seeks a motivated, self-starter who is passionate about positive health outcomes for Indigenous peoples.
Under the direction of the Director of Indigenous Primary Care the North Bay Indigenous Hub (NBIH), this position will be responsible to assist in the delivery of culturally competent and safe health and patient care management. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for supporting a Physician in a clinic setting, attend client homes for homecare support and complete in-take practices for new patients.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Baccalaureate in Nursing and registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse.
Current membership with RNAO, including professional liability insurance program.
Must have experience working in a variety of medical settings
Must have experience conducting prenatal/postnatal assessment, documentation, screening options, using community resources and addressing common patient concerns.




Must be proficient in both computer hardware and various software programs for recording documentation and maintain accurate and up-to-date automated documentation on case files.
Must have current First Aid/CPR, WHMIS certification.
Understanding of the Mental Health and Child, Youth & Family Services Acts.
Must have valid Ontario Class G Driver's License and have access to a reliable vehicle.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge and appreciation of Indigenous culture, traditions, and language.
Knowledge of cultural teachings and understanding traditional practices and ways of being.
The ability to maintain confidentiality, ethics, and thorough knowledge of PHIPA.
Ability to communicate and collaborate with clients, professionals, community partners and stakeholders.
Superior conflict managements and negotiation skills.
Excellent assessment skills.
Demonstrated effective written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interpret and evaluate information to make appropriate clinical decisions.
Excellent time management and organization skills to respond to fluctuating workload demands and respond immediately to crisis.
Knowledge of community agencies, services, and programs.
Appreciation for the diversity of services offered at the Hub, traditional healing and mainstream services.




Ability and willingness to work independently and co-operatively as an integral member of a primary health care team.
DUTIES INCLUDE: Conducting patient interviews and taking medical histories;
Performing duties within the scope of practice of the RN including but not limited to identification of concerns/complications outside of their expertise
Consulting and collaborating with other skilled staff concerning clinical issues;
Providing training and functional guidance to professional staff and others;
Participating in the development, implementations and evaluation of policies, procedures and protocols to ensure comprehensive and consistent delivery of excellent client care;
Developing and administering a health care plan appropriate to client needs, including in participating in case management and referral to healthcare and/or social agencies;
Ensuring proper monitoring/follow up care with clients;
Promoting and evaluating services provided and modifying as necessary;
Working collaboratively with health care providers in providing excellent client care using evidence based practice;
Participating in appropriate staff development activities and sharing learning with other members of the health care team;
Maintaining clinical knowledge through continuing educational endeavors;
Travel for work related matters; and,
Other duties as required.
A current Criminal/Police Records Check and Vulnerable Persons check is a requirement for this position.
