Canyon City Construction LP is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and safety-focused Skilled Labourer to join our construction team on an auxiliary/on-call basis. Reporting to the Site Manager, you will support a variety of residential, commercial, civil, and infrastructure projects by performing physical labour, assisting skilled tradespeople, preparing job sites, and helping ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.

This position offers the opportunity to gain experience across a variety of construction activities, work alongside experienced trades professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects throughout the city.

WHAT YOU'LL DO – AT A GLANCE

Perform a variety of physical labour tasks on active construction sites

Prepare and maintain construction sites, including clearing debris and setting up work areas

Load, unload, move, and store construction materials, tools, and equipment

Assist carpenters and other skilled trades with project-related activities

Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively

Assist with concrete, asphalt, and other construction material placement as required

Support demolition activities, including debris removal and site cleanup

Operate construction equipment and machinery when qualified and authorized

Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas

Follow all company safety procedures and Yukon workplace safety requirements

Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly safety meetings and inspections

Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders

Adapt to changing project priorities and work assignments as required

Promote and contribute to a robust safety culture on all worksites

WHAT YOU BRING
Experience & Qualifications

Previous experience in residential, commercial, civil, or general construction

Experience operating construction equipment or machinery is considered an asset





Knowledge of construction site safety practices and regulations

Experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively

Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting materials up to 50 lbs and working in varying weather conditions

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing project requirements

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for the past three years

WORKING CONDITIONS

Based in Whitehorse, with work performed primarily on active construction sites

Seasonal, project-based environment with potential year-round opportunities

Standard work schedule may vary depending on project requirements

May require irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet project schedules

Exposure to varying weather conditions and physical work demands

Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, climbing, bending, and other physical activities associated with construction work

RCMP criminal record check with vulnerable sector
