Position Overview As our Human Resources Specialist, you will contribute to the Town’s mission of “Taking of Banff” by grounding employee and workplace policies, procedures and programs in a culture of integrity, inclusion, accountability and professionalism.
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, this is a trusted, hands‑on senior role supporting employees and leaders across the organization. You will combine sound HR practice, practical knowledge of Alberta legislation, emotional intelligence and thoughtful judgement to foster a workplace where people feel supported, informed and able to do their best work.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Providing practical HR advice, coaching and support to employees and leaders.
Supporting legislative compliance, including Alberta employment standards, human rights and occupational health and safety requirements.
Administering and supporting compensation, benefits, disability management, attendance and workplace accommodations.
Leading and supporting equitable recruitment and selection processes.
Coordinating onboarding, employee development, performance management, recognition and succession‑planning initiatives.
Supporting employee relations matters, including workplace concerns and investigations, with discretion and a fair, fact‑based approach.
Reviewing and maintaining HR policies, procedures and programs to align with organizational needs and legislative requirements.
Building trusted relationships with employees, leaders, Council, external partners and professional advisors.
Contributing to a physically and psychologically safe, respectful and inclusive workplace.
This position requires a consistent in‑person presence at the Town of Banff workplace. The role relies on accessible, relationship‑based HR support; confidential conversations; participation in workplace meetings; and direct collaboration with employees and leaders throughout the organization.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday: 35 Hour Work Week
Compensation: $86,920.38 to $108,650.48 per year – based on education and work experience.
