Job Type:Full time ( 8:30-4:30pm, Tues to Sat)Pay:$24.95 per hourAbout the RoleAs a Transitions Caseworker, you will play a key front-line role in supporting clients as they navigate pathways out of homelessness and into housing stability. Using a Housing First and Recovery-Oriented approach, you will work alongside individuals to identify barriers and build on personal strengths to promote long‑term, sustainable recovery and independent living. Working as part of our Housing Transitions Team, you’ll support clients through all stages of the housing process—from intake and move‑in to long‑term case planning and community integration. Some of your responsibilities would include:Proactively engaging with clients to understand their current needs, barriers, and strengthsSupporting clients through personalized case management, goal-setting, and progress trackingAssist with securing housing—scheduling viewings, lease signings, move‑ins, and moreHelp clients overcome practical barriers such as ID, bank accounts, rent payment, and furnitureProvide one‑on‑one support for life skills, recovery planning, and goal developmentCollaborate with housing partners and community resources to support client successProvide transportation to appointments, meetings, and housing‑related activities using an agency vehicleEnsure accurate documentation including case notes, stats, and housing‑related formsConduct regular check‑ins and maintain professional rapport with clientsSupport transitional housing clients with move‑ins, inspections, room cleaning, and guest managementActively participate in team meetings, program evaluations, and community engagementFollow all agency policies, regulatory standards (MSDS, OH&S, WHMIS), and Accreditation requirementsBe a positive ambassador for Alpha House and its valuesAbout YouWe are looking for a compassionate,
motivated individual with strong case management skills and a deep understanding of housing systems, recovery models, and support for vulnerable populations. The ideal candidate would have the following:A minimum two‑year diploma in a social science discipline, or currently enrolledHousing case work experience, ideally with vulnerable populations1+ year of experience in addictions or mental health supportSolid knowledge of Calgary’s housing, shelter, and social services systemsClass 5 (Non GDL) driver license, clear five year driver’s abstract, and three years of driving experienceSkills in harm reduction, trauma‑informed care, crisis management, and recovery‑oriented systems of careStrong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environmentHigh ethical standards and respect for client confidentiality and dignityComfort with documentation, MS Office, and case management softwarePhysically able to assist clients from prone/sitting positions and lift items up to 35 lbsAble to provide a Vulnerable Sector Search, valid within the last six months, that does not contain any results material to the positionAble to complete Privacy Training & "It’s your Move" training, or equivalent Patient Lift trainingAbout Alpha HouseAlpha House is dedicated to providing secure, caring, and respectful environments for individuals dealing with addiction and mental health challenges.
