Your future starts now at Empower Simcoe!Position SummaryFull‑Time Indigenous EarlyON Child and Family Centre Coordinator.Support First Nation, Inuit and Metis families with children up to age 6 at all EarlyON Child and Family Centres across The County of Simcoe. Provide cultural education and resources to support EarlyON employees, support non‑indigenous families to develop literacy around First Nation, Inuit and Metis culture, teachings and traditions, work with community partners to identify gaps in service and methods of implementation, and establish and maintain ongoing collaborative relationships.Duration: 6 months contract with possible extension.Compensation PackageWork up to 37.5 hours per weekMinimum starting rate of pay is $34.51 per hour11 paid statutory holidaysEmployer paid confidential employee assistance program for you and your family membersBenefits Following 3‑month Probationary PeriodEmployer paid benefits (life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability advantages, health and dental)Group RRSP plan with Employer matched benefit up to 5% of gross earnings biweeklyEmployer paid vacation hours, sick and personal leave timeMinimum RequirementsProven successful completion of degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies or an acceptable equivalent programMinimum two years full‑time recent experience working with children 0‑6 years of age and their families; experience working withfamilies in the First Nations,



Inuit and Metis community is requiredSpecial FactorsIndividuals who self‑identify as First Nations, Inuit and/or Metis, the Indigenous peoples of Canada and who have lived experience relevant to the duties of this roleGeneral knowledge of First Nation, Inuit and Metis and universal community services and supportsAbove average communication skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and knowledge of database applicationsProven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment as well as independentlyFlexible, exercises sound judgement with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time‑management abilitiesUnderstanding of the Council on Quality and Leadership, Personal Outcome Measures is an assetCurrent valid driver's licence and reliable transportation for employment dutiesCurrent valid certificates in First Aid, CPR, and Non‐Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)Duties And Responsibilities (including but not limited to)Having knowledge of and awareness of contemporary issues within First Nation, Inuit and Metis communityAssisting in the identification, development and ongoing support of family/child enrichment programsSupporting positive parenting by providing appropriate and culturally sensitive parent education materials, workshops and modelling appropriate parent/child interactionDeveloping and implementing programs that promote Indigenous language acquisition and enrich understanding of First Nation,



Inuit and Metis teachingsPromoting healthy child development and age‑appropriate activitiesPromoting early identification of at‑risk infants and preschoolersFacilitating conversations with parents around child development and refer to supports and services that address developmental concernsPromoting good nutrition programsMaintaining and distributing up‑to‑date literature outlining community services availableIdentifying gaps in service and making recommendations to enhance servicePromoting Cultural Awareness Training to community partners who work with First Nation, Inuit and Metis familiesPromoting good public relations by serving on committees and participating in community activitiesPurchasing toys, equipment and parenting resources as needed and identified in the budgetParticipating on advisory committees as determined, including providing resource support to the Biinoojinsag CommitteePromoting EarlyON Child and Family Centre activities by participating in community eventsPreparing yearly work plans for submission and/or presentationParticipating in ongoing data collection, preparing and submitting monthly, quarterly stats and participating in program evaluation as determined by the ManagerRecruiting, training and supporting students and volunteers, as requiredUnderstanding and implementing procedures for P‑Card, mileage, purchase orders and inventory controlRecommending equipment purchases and purchase of service, as neededEmpower Simcoe is committed to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace where everyone feels respected and valued.
