RESPONSIBILITIES
Main Activities
Safe and efficient operation of bulk transport vehicle
Adhere to safety practices and procedures
Adhere to Dairy Industry Act and Regulations
Maintain robust communication with peers, customers and Operations Manager
Fuel vehicle, check oil, and report required repairs/maintenance
Maintain log books/records on mileage, report all accidents and turn in paperwork in a timely manner
Load truck with minimal to no product loss
Unload truck with minimal to no product loss
Cleaning exterior and inside the tanks of bulk milk trucks
Maintain excellent attendance along with clean work habits
Climb ladders to the top of the bulk tanks to check tank levels and for cleanliness
Perform other duties as required

We expect all employees that are driving company vehicles to behave like the professional driver they are. We each have multiple tasks to perform during on-duty time.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the tasks assigned to your position are being completed and in a safe and timely manner.

Knowledge
The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
Knowledge of truck and equipment safety
Knowledge of log books
Experience as a Class 1 driver
Unstable load experience
Skills and Abilities
The incumbent must demonstrate the following skills:
Effective writing, reading and communication skills
Ability to deal with customers effectively and represent the company in a professional manner
Ability to operate and manoeuvre a tractor trailer in a responsible manner
A clean drivers abstract
Time management skills
Personal Attributes
The incumbent must demonstrate the following personal attributes:
Be honest and trustworthy
Demonstrate sound work ethic
Be respectful
Responsible, self-motivated individual able to work with little supervision
EDUCATION
The incumbent would normally attain the required knowledge and skills through completion of grade 12 educations, and obtaining a class 1 driver’s license and completing an accredited driving program.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands
The Bulk Milk Tanker Driver has a somewhat physically demanding job. Climbing, lifting, pulling, sitting for long periods of time and managing awkward objects are required. The driver will need to be prepared to work in all weather conditions.
Environmental Conditions
The incumbent must work outside in all weather conditions. The Bulk Milk Tanker Driver may encounter noise, vibration, poor weather conditions or heavy traffic that may cause physical stress for the driver. When on a producer’s property there may be icy, muddy, wet conditions in and around buildings.
Sensory Demands
The incumbent may be exposed to noise, and unpleasant sights and smells.
Mental Demands
There are a number of collections that must be made in an effective and efficient manner. The Bulk Milk Tanker Driver must work independently and is expected to maintain a schedule. Any problems or inconveniences may result in increased stress. Noise, vibration, poor weather conditions or heavy traffic mentioned earlier may also cause mental stress for the driver.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
Class 1 driver’s license to operate and drive a tractor trailer
Experience hauling unstable loads
Must obtain Milk Graders License
Must pass a company driving test
Ability to keep accurate records
Ability to deal effectively with all customers
Excellent attendance, dependability and work records along with clean work habits
