Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D; capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are
You have spent time turning mathematical concepts into code that actually runs , and you know the difference between an algorithm that works on paper and one that holds up when the geometry gets messy. Computational geometry is not just a course you took; it is how you think about problems. You look at a 3D surface or a volume mesh and see the data structures, the edge cases, the numerical precision traps that will bite someone six months from now if you do not catch them now.

C++ is your language of choice for performance-critical work, and you are comfortable navigating large codebases where a single function might touch five subsystems. You do not need a perfect spec to get started. You ask the right questions, sketch out the approach, and start building. Debugging does not frustrate you, it is part of the craft, especially when the bug is hiding in geometric edge cases or numerical stability issues.

Whether you have built meshers before or worked adjacent to them in CAD, graphics, or simulation, you understand that robust geometry processing is what makes the downstream analysis tools actually work. At Synopsys, you will work on meshing and computational geometry technology that powers simulation and analysis workflows used across the industry.

What You'll Be Doing

Design, develop, and maintain meshing and computational geometry algorithms in C++ for production simulation and analysis products

Build and optimize geometric data structures, surface and volume mesh generators, and geometric processing pipelines

Debug complex geometry-related issues across large codebases, diagnosing problems in mesh quality, numerical robustness, and algorithm correctness

Translate mathematical and geometric concepts into efficient, maintainable, production-quality software

Collaborate with R&D; engineers across simulation, CAD, and analysis teams to align meshing capabilities with evolving product needs

Improve performance, scalability, and robustness of existing meshing and geometry-processing components

Contribute to architecture decisions that affect how geometric data flows through Synopsys simulation tools

The Impact You Will Have

Your meshing algorithms will directly affect the quality and reliability of simulations used by engineers designing next-generation chips and systems

Robust geometry processing you build will reduce downstream failures in analysis workflows, saving engineering teams time and frustrationPerformance improvements you make will enable larger, more complex models to be meshed and simulated efficiently

Code you write will become part of production tools used across Synopsys' simulation and analysis product portfolio

Your contributions to geometric robustness will help customers move from CAD to simulation with fewer manual interventions and cleaner workflows

Algorithmic improvements you develop will strengthen Synopsys' position in the simulation and analysis market

Your work will support the broader R&D; team's ability to deliver high-quality meshing technology that scales with customer needs

What You'll Need

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, Computational Geometry, or a related technical field

2+ years of hands‑on software development experience, or advanced degree with relevant research or project work

Strong proficiency in C++ for building complex, performance-sensitive software systems

Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object‑oriented software development

Experience with geometric algorithms, computational geometry, CAD development, meshing, geometry processing, or closely related areas

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, particularly translating mathematical or geometric concepts into working code

Experience with meshing, mesh generation, surface/volume meshes, or 2D/3D geometric algorithms is a strong plus.

Master's or PhD with focus on computational geometry, meshing, geometric modeling, or CAD is preferred

Who You Are

You can take a geometric problem described in a research paper or a bug report and turn it into a concrete implementation plan without needing someone to hold your hand

Debugging a tricky mesh failure or numerical instability issue does not make you want to give up; it makes you curious about what is actually happening under the hood

You care about code quality and maintainability because you know someone else will need to understand and extend what you build six months from now

You can explain a complex geometric tradeoff to another engineer in plain language without losing the technical nuance

You are comfortable working independently on hard technical problems, but you also know when to ask for input or collaborate with the team

You think about performance and scalability as part of the design process, not something you bolt on later

The Team You'll Be Part Of
You will join a focused small but dedicated meshing R&D; within Synopsys' simulation and analysis group, reporting to a Sr Staff Engineer. You will be part of the group working on robust, high-performance meshing technology and geometric algorithms that underpin Synopsys simulation products. The small team size means your contributions will be visible and your technical decisions will matter. You will work closely with engineers across simulation, CAD, and analysis disciplines, contributing to production-quality C++ software that handles complex geometry-related challenges. This is a hybrid role based in Vancouver.

Rewards and Benefits
We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non‑monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and advantages during the hiring process.

Synopsys Canada ULC values the diversity of our workforce. We are committed to provide access & opportunity to individuals with disabilities and will provide reasonable accommodation to individuals throughout the recruitment and employment process.
