The Opportunity
Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Business Partner supports a designated client group by building strong relationships, learning the business, and understanding internal needs. The role provides strategic consulting, coaching, and HR advice to leaders across core areas including workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, compensation, and employee relations. Working in a complex unionized setting with multiple collective agreements, the HR Business Partner supports labour relations through grievance handling, labour-management meetings, and interpretation and application of collective agreements. The role also supports workplace investigations, policy interpretation, and issue resolution, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and agreements.

Qualifications
Must Have

Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources, with several years of progressive experience as an HR Business Partner, Generalist, or Specialist.

Experience working in a multi-collective agreement environment, with strong skills in negotiation, mediation, and interpretation of collective agreements.

Direct HR Business Partner experience providing client-focused coaching and consulting and building and maintaining relationships across diverse client groups.

Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations,



including employee misconduct and respectful workplace complaints.

Intermediate to advanced proficiency in desktop software, particularly Microsoft Office.

Strong knowledge of relevant employment-related legislation, including Labour Standards, Human Rights, and Privacy legislation.

Nice to Have

Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) Designation.

An equivalent combination of training, education and experience may be considered.

This position requires a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle. Some travel within the province is required.

Responsibilities

Acts as the primary HR contact for a designated client group, building trusted relationships and providing practical, solutions-focused advice in a complex unionized environment.

Identifies emerging issues and applies HR expertise grounded in ethical behaviour, integrity, and experience.

Works with leaders on employee and labour relations, performance management, workforce planning, policy interpretation, and day-to-day HR matters to support decision-making and process improvement.

Leads or supports workplace investigations, grievances, and disciplinary matters,



works with unions and legal counsel, and contributes to improvements to HR policies and practices.

Participates in labour-management and leadership meetings to address issues, support collaboration, and resolve concerns.

Gathers feedback from internal clients and uses insights to improve future HR initiatives, including recruitment, training content development, and workforce development.

Collaborates with other HR Business Partners and subject matter experts to align approaches, share information, and support consistent HR practices across the organization.

Supports capability-building across the organization by sharing recommendations, coaching leaders on HR issues and contributing to organizational goals.

What We Offer

Salary: $84,926.23 - $110,404.64 annually (MC 21)

Schedule: 35-hour work week
