The Manager, Security and Emergency Services oversees security operations, emergency preparedness, life safety programs, third-party contracts, security technology, budgets, forecasting, accruals and stakeholder relationships at Square One Shopping Centre (SQ1). It requires a decisive leader who can manage major incidents, coach internal and contracted security teams, collaborate with tenants and public authorities, and implement projects on budget and within targeted deadlines.
The Manager, Security and Emergency Services, reporting to the Director, Square One, is responsible for safeguarding the property, supporting a secure and welcoming environment, and ensuring compliance with corporate safety, security, emergency management and health and safety policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
You Will Be Responsible For Security Operations Management and Leadership Oversee day-to-day shopping centre security operations,



including the direct management and development of the Assistant Security Manager (ASM) and the oversight and management of the third-party security contractor.
Manage and build all stakeholder relations with the Peel Regional Police (PRP), Emergency Services, and City personnel.
Work with the SQ1 Director and team on security related events including, but not limited to, the Santa Clause Parade.
Working with the ASM, ensure effective patrols, CCTV monitoring, body-camera review, access control, opening and closing procedures, security briefs, standard operating procedures and scheduling practices.
Drive a strong customer service culture (both tenants and customers) as part of the everyday operation of the Security Department.
Coach the ASM, the contractor Lead Supervisor and Supervisors to support sound decision-making, consistent performance and team growth.
Review security reports and incident interactions, identifying corrective actions and delivering coaching where required.
Act proactively to identify any security risks or concerns and meet regularity with the Director to review these with potential solutions (working with respective operations team members).
Work out of the Security Office at least 50% of the time including interactions with all security and supervisors to ensure full understanding of the department and current requirements.
Working with the ASM,



respond to major security incidents and coordinate with police, fire, emergency medical services and other authorities as needed.
Work with Oxford corporate security to ensure compliance with all assessments, standards, and guidelines
Ensure a high level of team culture within the Security Department and enhance cooperations with the SQ1 operations personnel (i.e.: Senior Operations Manager (SOM), Marketing Manager, Specialty Leasing Manager).
As required, be available after hours and weekends during any high level incidents or emergency situations.
Develop and maintain a strategic and outward-facing vision for property security by researching, recommending, and implementing innovative, technology-driven solutions that enhance safety, operational effectiveness, and the overall guest and tenant experience.
Contract Oversight, Budget and Security Technology Manage security and life safety budgets, contracts and third-party vendors, including surveillance, alarm systems, security personnel paid duty PRP and related services.
Ensure contracted services are delivered in accordance with agreements, coverage requirements and performance expectations.
Working with the SOM, estimate, recommend and implement capital and operational security projects on budget and within targeted deadlines.
Responsible for building and inputting the annual budget, monthly variance analyses, monthly accruals (tracking and system inputting) and quarterly reforecasting.
