Overview
At Mainview Animal Hospital, we are looking for a hard working and motivated person to join our team. We are a busy small animal practice that offers consultations, grooming, daycare, boarding and specialized surgeries (procedures like; spay/neuter, endoscopy, dentistry, mass removal, laparotomy and more). Here, honesty and exceptional care is our number one priority.
The candidates should be a self-motivated, detail oriented, keen/interested individual who is looking for a career in the animal health field for a permanent part time or full time position. Must be available to work some weekends and holidays, will be discussed.
Duties include but are not exclusive to:
- Greet clients warmly upon arrival, providing excellent customer service through the entire visit
- Client assisting (food sales, booking appointments, answering phones, invocices, and more)
- Assisting veterinarian with animal handling (lateral exams, blood draws, vaccinations, pre-surgical work, etc.), feeding, caring for and monitoring. Should be comfortable with difficult patients
- Maintain accurate patient records, update medical records, ensure confidentiality of client information.
- Compassion and sensitivity during emotional times
- Hospital sanitation and kennel cleaning
- Aiding the veterinarian with laboratory tasks such as sample collection or completion of lab requisitions. Also, manage laboratory stock and hospital inventory.
Skills & Requirements
- Prior experience working in a veterinary or animal care setting is preferred but not required; training can be provided for specific duties
- Strong communication skills with a positive and friendly demeanor
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a busy environment
- Genuine love of animals and desire to deliver the highest quality service possible
- Computer handling skills, preferably experience with cornerstone
- Ability to problem solve without supervision and come up with creative solutions to make the hospital more organized and productive
- Use payment processing machines and handle cash
- Ability to take initiative and complete tasks before being asked
- Eagerness to learn more about veterinary medicine and build bonds with clients
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting animals or supplies safely
- Must have transportation
Payment
- Wage varies based on previous work experience, attitude and work ethic
- Bi-weekly pay period
