This is a highly responsible position with a mandate for the regional delivery and coordination of a comprehensive range of professional services and supports to meet the needs of crime victims (adults, children and families). This is completed by the delivery of regional services, which include providing information on the criminal justice system, assistance with Victim Impact Statements, court preparation, and referrals to professional counseling services.
Victim Services
Coordinators are expected to operate with a significant degree of skilled autonomy while delivering services, coordinating information and using intervention strategies with criminal justice personnel and other professionals as required. The incumbent will conduct psychosocial assessments, work with appropriate resources to determine and coordinate overall case management plans, and assume a leadership role in the development and delivery of public and professional education sessions and workshops related to victimology
Screening Criteria
1. Bachelor degree in Social Work, Sociology or Psychology (equivalencies will be considered)
2. Victim-related work experience
3.
Experience conducting psychosocial assessments and applying appropriate counseling techniques
4. Experience working with diverse populations (asset)
