For Every Tomorrow

Canada

About For Every TomorrowFor Every Tomorrow is a nonprofit focused on mental health and addiction through education, awareness, storytelling, and community-based work.

One of our core initiatives, A Person, Not a Statistic, creates space for people to share lived experiences with mental health, addiction, recovery, grief, loss, and supporting someone they care about.

We’re looking for Volunteer Story Outreach Coordinators to help us identify people who are already using their voices to speak openly about these experiences and thoughtfully invite them to collaborate with the initiative.

About the RoleAs a Story Outreach Coordinator, you’ll help grow A Person, Not a Statistic by identifying people who are already publicly sharing experiences related to mental health, addiction, recovery, grief, loss, or supporting someone they care about.

A major part of this role will be researching potential contributors and drafting personalized outreach messages.

You’ll explore platforms such as Instagram, identify individuals whose stories or work could align with the initiative, learn about their public content and why they may be a good fit, and prepare individualized outreach drafts inviting them to collaborate with For Every Tomorrow.

You will primarily be responsible for identifying potential contributors and preparing outreach drafts rather than independently contacting people on behalf of For Every Tomorrow. Drafts will be reviewed before outreach is sent.

The goal is not to convince people to disclose experiences they haven't chosen to share. It's to find people who are already using their voices and offer them another space through which they can be heard.

What You’ll Do

- Discover people who are already publicly sharing relevant lived experiences on platforms such as Instagram
- Review publicly available content to understand each potential contributor and why their perspective could fit A Person, Not a Statistic
- Research potential contributors before preparing outreach
- Draft personalized outreach and collaboration messages for review

- Adapt each message to the individual rather than relying on generic templates
- Clearly communicate why a particular person’s story, work, or perspective caught our attention
- Identify creators, advocates, community members, and others who could bring meaningful perspectives to the initiative
- Keep organized records of potential contributors, outreach drafts, and relevant information
- Revise outreach drafts based on feedback when needed
- Help develop new approaches for reaching different communities and types of contributors
- Ensure every outreach draft is respectful, sensitive, and free from pressure

Who We’re Looking ForYou may be a robust fit if you:
- Are a strong and thoughtful writer
- Are comfortable navigating Instagram and other social platforms
- Have a good eye for discovering people, stories, and conversations
- Can write personalized messages that sound genuine rather than copied and pasted
- Are thoughtful about how people discussing sensitive or personal experiences should be approached
- Understand that someone sharing an experience publicly does not mean others are entitled to their story
- Can research independently and use good judgment when identifying potential contributors
- Pay attention to tone, context, and the individual behind an outreach message
- Are organized and able to keep track of potential contributors and drafts
- Care about mental health, addiction, lived experience, and responsible storytelling
- Are reliable and comfortable working independently as part of a remote volunteer team

Experience in communications, writing, outreach, social media, journalism, advocacy, community engagement, nonprofit work, or mental-health-related work is an asset, but not required. Responsible OutreachBecause A Person,

Not a Statistic deals with personal and sometimes difficult experiences, how we approach people matters.

Story Outreach Coordinators will not identify people simply because they believe someone may have a mental-health condition or addiction. Potential contributors should already have chosen to speak publicly about experiences relevant to the initiative.

You will not be expected to provide mental-health advice or support, and no potential contributor should ever feel pressured to participate or disclose more than they are comfortable sharing.

Our role is to offer people another opportunity to use their voice, not ask them for a story they haven't chosen to tell.

What You’ll Gain

- Hands-on experience in digital and story-based outreach
- Experience researching and identifying potential contributors
- Experience writing professional, personalized outreach communications
- Experience adapting communications to different people and circumstances
- Exposure to nonprofit communications and lived-experience storytelling
- Opportunities to contribute ideas to a growing mental-health nonprofit
- Experience receiving and incorporating feedback on external communications
- The opportunity to help bring new voices and perspectives to A Person, Not a Statistic

CommitmentThis is a remote, unpaid volunteer position with flexible hours. There are no fixed daily working hours. Volunteers will independently research potential contributors and prepare outreach drafts while communicating regularly with the For Every Tomorrow team.

About A Person, Not a StatisticBehind every statistic is a person, a story, and a future worth fighting for.

A Person, Not a Statistic creates space for lived experiences that can too easily disappear behind numbers and headlines. Stories may explore living with mental-health challenges or addiction, recovery, grief and loss, supporting someone you care about, or other experiences that have shaped someone's relationship with mental health.

Contributors remain in control of what they choose to share.
