Create Beautiful Spaces. Own Your Projects. See Your Ideas Come to Life. There is something incredibly rewarding about designing a home and then watching it take shape around you.
We are partnering with a Saskatoon-based design-build company specializing in custom homes and major residential renovations to find an experienced Senior Interior Designer to join their growing team. This is an opportunity for a designer who loves beautiful interiors—but also understands what it takes to make great designwork in the real world.
You’ll take ownership of projects from the earliest design conversations through selections, detailed drawings, construction and final completion. You’ll work directly with clients, collaborate closely with the construction team, and have the autonomy to make design decisions, solve problems and bring your own experience and ideas to the table.
Just as importantly, you’ll be joining afun, collaborative and genuinely supportive teamthat cares deeply about the homes they create and the experience they provide to their clients.
Why This Opportunity?
If you’re an experienced residential designer, you may be at the point where you’re looking for more than simply executing someone else’s vision.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
Own your projectsfrom concept through construction and completion
Build meaningful relationships directly with clients
Have real creative input and autonomy in your work
Design custom kitchens, bathrooms, millwork, built-ins and architectural details
Work closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, trades and suppliers to see your designs executed properly
Influence design standards, processes and how the team works
Mentor and support developing designers
Work on a diverse range of custom homes and major renovations
Join a team where creativity, quality, collaboration and having some fun along the way all matter
This isn’t a role where your involvement ends once the concept boards are approved. You’ll have the satisfaction of seeing your ideas become finished spaces.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Senior Interior Designer, you’ll lead multiple residential projects and become a trusted design resource for both clients and the internal team.
You’ll:
Lead custom residential projects from initial concept through construction and completion
Develop thoughtful, cohesive interiors that reflect each client’s lifestyle, aesthetic, functional needs and budget
Lead client meetings, presentations, design consultations and selections
Guide clients confidently through decisions around aesthetics, functionality, cost, availability and constructability
Develop comprehensive interior design packages and construction-ready documentation
Design custom cabinetry and millwork for kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms, closets, built-ins, feature walls,
fireplaces and other architectural elements
Prepare and review detailed drawings, elevations, layouts, specifications and construction details
Lead selections across cabinetry, countertops, flooring, tile, plumbing, lighting, hardware, paint, appliances and finishes
Source products and materials with consideration for design, quality, budget, availability and lead times
Coordinate purchasing, vendors, suppliers, samples and installations
Work directly with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, trades and installers throughout construction
Attend job sites to review measurements, field conditions, installations and design details
Troubleshoot design and construction challenges as they arise
Review work prepared by junior designers and provide mentorship and technical guidance
Contribute ideas that improve Bella Vista’s design systems, standards and processes
The owners are looking for someone who can anticipate problems before they arrive at the construction site and produce designs that are not only beautiful, but cohesive, practical and buildable.
Great Design Isn’t Always About a Bigger Budget
They’re looking for someone who gets just as excited about finding the clever alternative as they do about specifying the premium option.
You understand where it’s worth investing, where it isn’t, and how thoughtful details, materials and creative problem-solving can make a space feel elevated and custom without simply choosing the most expensive product.
That resourcefulness is part of being a great designer here.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for an experienced designer who has the confidence to take the lead while still enjoying being part of a highly collaborative team.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
5+ years of professional residential interior design or design-build experience
Experience with custom homes and/or substantial residential renovations
A diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architectural Technology or a related field
Solid knowledge of residential construction and how design decisions translate into the field
Experience designing custom cabinetry, millwork and architectural details
Proficiency with AutoCAD and ArchiCAD , with 2020 experience considered an asset
Experience creating detailed, construction-ready drawings and specifications
Strong sourcing, specification, procurement and vendor-management skills
Confidence leading client meetings and guiding clients through sometimes difficult decisions
Strong organizational and project-management abilities
An eye for detail and an appreciation for both aesthetics and budgets
The ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities without losing sight of the details
A collaborative, approachable and solutions-focused working style
A professional portfolio demonstrating your residential design work
These requirements reflect the owners’ emphasis on someone with at least five years of residential/design-build experience, custom home or major renovation exposure, strong construction and millwork knowledge, and the ability to independently own multiple projects.
And Then There’s the Team…
Skills and experience matter, but so does where you spend your days .
Bella Vista has created a culture that is warm, collaborative and supportive. People care about doing great work, but they also care about each other. It’s an environment where ideas are shared, people pitch in, successes are celebrated and everyone takes pride in the finished product.
They’re looking for someone who will bring experience to the team—but also someone they’ll genuinely enjoy working alongside.

For the right designer, this could be an opportunity to make both a career move and a lifestyle move.
