Job Description Assessment of patients to establish priorities and create a plan of care; administration of medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician according to established policies and protocols; proficient in educating patients/families about specific surgical procedures and the required care involved in such procedures both pre and post operative. The successful incumbent will also instruct patients and families on topics regarding health education and promotion across the continuum of care. Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team to plan, implement,
coordinate and evaluate patient care in consultation with patients and their families.
Registered nurse who applies all aspects of the nursing process in a professional manner within a multi-disciplinary team. This nurse will support the care of the Surgical patient during both preop preparation and post-operative recovery.

Current registration with College of Nurses of Ontario
Current BCLS certification required at time of hire
Current ACLS certification required at time of hire and ongoing
Current PALS required at time of hire and ongoing
Critical Care experience required
Critical Care certificate and/ or PACU certificate required
Previous experience in PACU an asset
Experience with arterial and central lines, epidurals and PCAs
Problem solving abilities and critical thinking skills
Excellent organizational skills and flexibility
Ability to function as part of a team in a rapidly changing environment
Diplomacy, public relation and conflict resolution skills required
Demonstrated commitment to professional development and a strong knowledge of policy and practice standards
Satisfactory employment and attendance record
Additional Information Hours : Monday to Sunday -various rotating 8 hour shifts,
on-call evenings and weekends (Hourssubject to change based on operational requirements)
Salary: $41.15 to $58.98 per hours
