Our client is seeking a hands-on, results-driven Safety & Compliance Manager to lead and strengthen safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management across its Canadian fleet operations. Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development, with a dotted line to the Corporate Director of Safety & Compliance, the successful candidate will adapt corporate safety standards to the specific provincial and federal requirements governing Canadian operations, with oversight extending to shop and maintenance compliance. This is a highly visible position within a lean team, initially overseeing one or two direct reports, with indirect accountability for the safety of approximately 70–80 drivers on the road.
The role spans safety culture and regulatory compliance, including driver qualification files, Hours of Service and ELD management, accident investigations, and the drug & alcohol testing program, as well as fleet and regulatory administration such as vehicle registrations,



IRP/IFTA filings, preventive maintenance compliance, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods requirements. The Safety & Compliance Manager also manages insurance claims and risk matters, and leads driver training, coaching, and process improvement, including adapting corporate policies to Canadian law.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on operator who is equally comfortable in the office and on the shop floor, at ease in a multicultural workplace, and available around the clock given the nature of safety incidents. This person can take an established, standardized safety playbook and localize it for Canadian regulatory requirements, bringing structure and momentum to a program that has been without dedicated leadership for close to a year.
