Warehouse and Logistics SupervisorJob Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and hands-on Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor to oversee our daily shipping, receiving, packing and warehouse operations.

This is a fast-paced role that requires someone who can wear several hats, manage competing priorities and respond quickly when issues arise. The Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor must be able to balance supervising the team with completing their own operational responsibilities.

The department consists of five people: the Supervisor, one Shipper and three Packers. The Supervisor is responsible for organizing the work of the department, setting priorities and ensuring the team works together effectively to meet daily shipping requirements. The successful candidate must be resourceful and able to determine how to manage the department’s workload with the available team.

The role works closely with Sales and Customer Service to obtain freight quotes for large or complex orders, investigate delivery issues and provide timely updates. It also involves working directly with couriers to track missing or delayed packages, resolve shipping problems and communicate clear answers back to internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the warehouse and logistics team, consisting of one Shipper and three Packers.
- Organize the department’s workload and assign responsibilities based on order volume, shipping deadlines and business priorities.
- Oversee inventory control and coordinate with purchasing to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Balance supervisory responsibilities with hands-on involvement in shipping, receiving, packing and other warehouse activities when needed.
- Ensure customer orders are picked, packed and shipped accurately and on time.
- Work closely with Sales and Customer Service to obtain freight quotes for large, unusual or time-sensitive shipments.
- Respond to freight quote requests promptly so Sales and Customer Service can provide timely information to customers.
- Contact couriers to locate missing or delayed packages, investigate delivery problems and resolve shipment-related issues.
- Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL)



for transportation planning and execution.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by analyzing logistics data and implementing best practices in warehouse management.
- Provide timely and accurate updates to Sales and Customer Service regarding freight quotes, shipment status and delivery issues.
- Proactively follow up on outstanding requests and shipping problems until they are fully resolved.
- Coordinate domestic, international, expedited and large-freight shipments.
- Review shipping requirements and select appropriate courier services based on cost, timing and customer requirements.
- Maintain effective working relationships with couriers, freight carriers and third-party logistics providers.
- Oversee receiving activities and ensure incoming goods are inspected, recorded and stored correctly.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and coordinate with Purchasing and other departments regarding stock issues.
- Use ERP, warehouse and courier systems to process shipments, track orders and maintain accurate information.
- Ensure shipping documents, customs paperwork, courier records and other required documentation are completed accurately.
- Monitor order volumes, staffing requirements and potential delays, and communicate concerns before they affect customers.
- Identify ways to improve warehouse organization, shipping processes, productivity and cost control.
- Establish clear processes and expectations so the five-person department can manage its responsibilities effectively.
- Train, coach and support warehouse employees and address performance or productivity concerns when necessary.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to team members.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe warehouse environment.
- Ensure the team follows WorkSafeBC requirements, safe lifting practices and established workplace procedures.
- Operate warehouse equipment and assist with physical warehouse duties when required.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and other business systems.
- Perform other warehouse and logistics duties as required.Skills and Competencies

- Comfortable handling competing requests and setting appropriate priorities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Experience working with ERP, WMS and courier shipping systems.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, order fulfillment, shipping, receiving and inventory control.
- Understanding of domestic and international freight and transportation coordination.
- Able to analyze shipping information, costs and operational data.
- Able to safely perform physical warehouse work and operate equipment when required.
- Committed to accuracy, customer service, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Qualifications Must Have
- Three to five years of warehouse, shipping or logistics experience.
- At least one to two years of experience in a supervisory or team-lead role.
- Demonstrated ability to organize a small team and manage daily operational priorities.
- Experience obtaining freight quotes and working with couriers or transportation providers.
- Experience investigating delayed or missing shipments and following issues through to resolution.
- Strong understanding of WorkSafeBC regulations and supervisory responsibilities.
- Experience using ERP, WMS or similar business systems.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage employee performance, provide direction and hold team members accountable.
- Ability to perform hands-on warehouse duties when operationally required.

Nice to Have
- Post-secondary education in supply chain management, logistics or a related field.
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification.
- Lean, 5S or continuous-improvement experience.
- Experience coordinating domestic and international transportation.
- Forklift certification.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or e-commerce environment.
