Job Title: Welder III
Job Summary
The successful candidate is responsible for operating and setting-up hand welding and flame cutting equipment such as arc welders, gas welders, and gas torches to weld together metal components (flat, horizontal, or vertical plates and pipes). Work from sketches, prints, operation sheets, preliminary drawings, and written/verbal instructions, while maintaining welding specifications.
Responsibility
- Candidates must be willing to work steady afternoon shift
- Candidates must be CWB certified
- Must have MIG welding experience, related technical competence and a good understanding of production processes & welding equipment
- Must be able to read Blueprints, Engineering and welding specifications
- Crane operator license would be an asset
- MEWP license would be an asset
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Minimum 5 Years fitting experience
- Must be highly flexible to handle many different projects
- Able to work in a team environment
- Must be capable of organizing and coordinating work with minimal supervision
- Dedication to quality, safety and continuous improvement is necessary
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse and/or remove metal segments using processes such as MIG, gas metal arc (GMAW) and stick, shielded metal arc (SMAW), ARCAIR GAUGING, Oxygen / Acetylene
- Weld metal parts, using gas-welding equipment as specified by layout, welding diagram
- Ensure quality of welds and rework for all MEWP machines
- Fabricate and assemble fixtures, tooling, shop aids and other devices as required for special projects
- Perform basic trouble shooting of weld machines and accessories as required
- Will be required to keep CWB certification current
- Perform any other duties as assigned
Academic/Educational Requirements:
- Some completion of secondary school or equivalent
- Post-Secondary training as a welder is preferred.
- All-Position Stick ticket is required
Required Skills/Experience:
- Possess the drive and motivation to learn continuously on the job.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, setting requiring cooperation.
- Ability to interact with co-workers and supervisors to exchange information about tasks and to coordinate work.
- Partake in training related to the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), use of cleaning products and equipment.
