Position Overview
Metalleco is seeking a Welding Applications Specialist – French Speaking to support our welding automation projects and customer service activities.
This position will serve as an important technical liaison between our customers, project managers, and technical teams. The successful candidate will communicate with customers to understand project requirements, coordinate technical information, support project execution, and assist with installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and after-sales service.
Candidates with a French educational background or native-level French proficiency are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate directly with customers to collect, clarify, and document project requirements and technical inputs.
- Understand customer production processes, welding requirements, equipment specifications, and project expectations.
- Coordinate customer requirements with internal engineering, project management, and technical teams.
- Report project progress, customer feedback, technical concerns, and outstanding items to the Project Manager.
- Assist with project documentation, technical communication, and follow-up activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support communication and coordination related to after-sales service, troubleshooting, warranty issues, and customer technical requests.
- Travel to customer facilities as required for project meetings, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support.
- Assist technical teams during equipment installation, commissioning,
adjustment, testing, repair, and maintenance.
- Support customers during equipment startup and help communicate technical issues between customers and internal engineering teams.
- Maintain professional and responsive communication with customers throughout project execution and after-sales support.
- Identify customer concerns and help coordinate appropriate technical solutions with the project and engineering teams.
Qualifications
Language Requirements
- Native or near-native French proficiency is strongly preferred.
- Candidates with a French educational background will be given priority.
- Fluent English communication skills are required, both written and verbal.
- Ability to communicate technical information professionally with customers and internal teams.
Technical Background Candidates should have at least one of the following:
- Professional working experience in welding, welding automation, fabrication, or related industrial environments; or
- College, university, technical school, or vocational education related to Welding Engineering, Welding Technology, Welding Technician, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with robotic welding or welding automation systems.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, or maintenance.
- Experience working directly with industrial customers.
- Ability to read technical drawings, welding drawings, and equipment documentation.
- Knowledge of welding processes such as GMAW/MIG, FCAW, GTAW/TIG, or robotic arc welding is an asset.
- Experience working in a project-based manufacturing or automation environment is an asset.
- Solid problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with project managers and technical teams.
Travel Requirements This position requires regular business travel to customer facilities for:
- Project meetings
- Technical discussions
- Equipment installation support
- Commissioning and adjustment
- Troubleshooting and repair
- Customer training and after-sales support
Candidates must be comfortable with frequent travel and working at industrial customer sites. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate combines strong French communication skills, fluent English, and practical welding knowledge. They are comfortable communicating directly with customers, understanding technical requirements, coordinating with project teams, and providing hands-on support when needed.
