About the role: The Coder - Health Records Technician will work with physicians and allied health care providers toward a common understanding of CIHI grouper methodology and its relationship to documentation, funding and decision-making. Maintains effective interpersonal skills to work with physicians, co-workers and staff in a positive co-operative manner.
What you'll be doing: Using ICD-10 CA and CCI classification to assign codes to inpatient, day surgery, oncology and or emergency patients
Entering data (abstracting) into Med2020 WinRecs system
Perform the above functions on a concurrent basis with accuracy
Must have excellent knowledge of medical terminology
Must have a good understanding of anatomy and physiology along with disease processes
Self-driven to keep up the above noted knowledge
Perform all quality, correction functions associated with above functions
Performs other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
Work with physicians to affect change in documentation on the chart such that CMGs and expected length of stay are correctly assigned.
What you bring: Health Information Management diploma




Canadian Health Information Management Association certification (CHIMA)
Two years current coding of inpatient, day surgery, oncology and or emergency records using ICD-10 CA and CCI
Complexity Analysis
Competent in software - MS Office, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint is an asset
Ability to maneuver through Meditech, Med2020 WinRecs, Folio
Ability to focus and concentrate in a busy, often loud environment
