Job Title: Junior Machine Builder
Job Description

This short-term Junior Machine Builder role supports the assembly, installation, and repair of custom heavy industrial machinery and equipment. The initial assignment is scheduled for approximately six weeks, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.

Use common hand and power tools safely and effectively to assemble machinery and components.

Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, schematics, and product specifications, including tolerances, to guide assembly and installation work.

Fit and assemble simple and complex parts to build heavy industrial machinery and equipment according to engineering assembly drawings.

Perform mechanical assembly of machine subassemblies and complete machines, ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications.

Rig, hoist, move, and align large subassemblies and components, up to approximately 5 tons, using overhead cranes and related lifting equipment.

Install mechanical components and assemblies using engineering assembly drawings and established procedures.

Perform machine installation and repair work, including troubleshooting and correcting mechanical issues as needed.

Apply knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems during machine build, wiring, and testing activities.

Lift and handle materials and components weighing up to 50 lbs as part of daily assembly tasks.

Follow all safety procedures and use required manufacturing PPE while working in a shop environment.

Collaborate with a small team to complete custom machinery builds within project timelines.

Essential Skills

1–3 years of experience in machine building, mechanical assembly, or a closely related field.

Solid mechanical aptitude, with the ability to understand how mechanical systems and components interact.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, schematics, and product specifications, including tolerances.

Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly of industrial machinery and equipment.

Knowledge and experience with hydraulics, including assembling and connecting hydraulic components.

Knowledge and experience with pneumatics, including assembling and connecting pneumatic components.

Basic electrical knowledge and experience, including wiring and working with simple electrical systems on machinery.

Ability to rig, hoist, move, and align large subassemblies and components, up to approximately 5 tons, using overhead cranes and related equipment.

Experience installing mechanical components and assemblies using engineering assembly drawings.

Ability to perform machine installation and repair work, including mechanical troubleshooting.

Ability to safely lift and handle up to 50 lbs during routine tasks.





Proficiency with common hand tools and power tools, with the ability to provide and use personal tools as required.

Robust attention to detail and ability to work from detailed specifications and tolerances.

Commitment to following safety procedures and using required PPE in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing shop environment within a small team dedicated to building custom machinery. You will work primarily on the first shift, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The work involves hands‑on mechanical assembly, use of common hand and power tools, and operation of overhead cranes to move and align components up to approximately 5 tons. You will frequently handle parts and materials up to 50 lbs. Manufacturing personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and used daily, and the dress code aligns with standard manufacturing attire suitable for shop‑floor work and safe equipment operation.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Concord, ON.

Pay and Perks
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $29.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.

Workplace Type
This is a fully onsite position in Concord,ON.
