These 24‑hour live‑in shifts provide long‑term therapeutic care for up to three children or youth who have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences, or other adversities.The Community Living programs provide essential services to adults, offering personalized support that stresses independence, supports unique strengths and qualities, and encourages integration into the community.The PositionTaproot is hiring Social Services workers to care for individuals (adults and children) within our programs in Port Alberni. We are currently hiring for the following roles, in both part‑time and full‑time capacities.Live‑In Workers – $505.76 per dayPositions with the below schedules may be available:Live‑In Support shifts, 0700‑0700 and 0700‑2300Live‑in Support Workers receive free room and board during scheduled work shifts and may receive breaks from the resource home, as conditions permit.We strongly encourage qualified Indigenous – First Nations, Métis, and Inuit, applicants to apply.In Your Role You WillAssist the person served with the activities of daily living, including personal and health care, behavioural, nutritional, recreational, social, vocational, educational, cultural and environmental needs as identified in their person‑centered plans (PCP), while keeping trauma‑informed care at the forefront of support.Work in collaboration with MCFD, CLBC, VIHA, Mental Health Services, Community Supports, Outreach Teams, Harm Reduction Workers, Cultural Supports, Knowledge Keepers, Schools, Behaviour Consultants,



stakeholders and partners.Demonstrate a high degree of tolerance and respect for a supported individual's unique personality and challenges, while promoting their dignity and rights.Support and promote a friendly and effective working relationship with the supported individual, family and team members.Apply crisis intervention and risk management strategies.Assist with case management documentation by identifying strengths and potential challenges, contributing to the evaluation of the individual’s progress and preparing reports.Organize household tasks, including meal planning, food purchasing and preparation, house cleaning and basic maintenance.Implement the individual's daily schedule, including transporting them to and from appointments, school, monitoring progress and supporting at‑home learning.Administer medications as per policy.Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as required.Request a job description for full duties and responsibilities.Prior to confirmation of employment, all applicants must provide a copy of a current Criminal Record Check and/or Government Screening Letter. These checks vary depending on province and sector and will be communicated by the Program Hiring Team.As An Ideal Candidate You PossessExperience working with youth or adults with complex behaviours.Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Work, Human Services, Education, Sociology or Psychology.An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may also be considered.Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with clean driver’s abstract.Reliable,
