The Township of Georgian Bay is a growing water-based community in the District of Muskoka along the eastern shore of Georgian Bay.

With a permanent population of approximately 3,500 and a seasonal population of around 17,500, our municipal office in Port Severn is a short commute from Barrie, Midland, Orillia, Parry Sound, and surrounding communities.

Overview: The Township of Georgian Bay is seeking a Winter Patrol employee to join our team on a temporary, seasonal contract which will run from November 2026 to March 2027. The hours of work are 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Thursday to Sunday.

Working with minimal supervision, the Winter Patrol employee is responsible for patrolling Township roads during the winter season to monitor road conditions and hazards, helping ensure that the roads are safe for vehicles and are in compliance with Provincial Minimum Maintenance Standards. This position may also support winter maintenance activities, including plowing and treating roads, sidewalks, and parking lots as needed.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Monitor weather conditions in accordance with Township training.
- Patrol Township and District of Muskoka roads in accordance with Township training and applicable winter control plans.




- Complete detailed road surface condition reports and notify the Supervisor of Roads and Fleet when winter maintenance is required under Ontario Minimum Maintenance Standards and Township and District guidelines.
- Report repair needs and areas of non-compliance to the Supervisor of Roads and Fleet.
- Provide winter maintenance support as needed, including plowing and treating roads, sidewalks, and parking lots.
- Safely and efficiently operate light and heavy fleet equipment, including tandem axle plow units, loaders, and passenger trucks for patrolling, snowplowing, sanding, and salting Township and District roads and sidewalks in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and applicable guidelines.
- Maintain assigned vehicles in a clean and tidy condition, complete daily inspections and record any deficiencies.
- Comply with all health and safety practices, standard operating guidelines, and Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements. Wear required personal protective equipment and report hazards to the appropriate Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of winter road maintenance experience, including one (1)



year related truck driving experience.
- Must possess a valid DZ Driver’s Licence, in positive standing.
- Thorough knowledge of all applicable provincial and municipal regulations and standards, including but not limited to, the Provincial Minimum Maintenance Standards and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Wage rate: $25.88 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay. This temporary, seasonal position will run from November 2026 to April 2027. The hours of work are 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Thursday to Sunday. This is a unionized position with OPSEU Local 328.
