Paraprofessional – Special Education LeadJob ID: 1069This role supports instruction, record keeping, and classroom management for students with disabilities. program at the building levelAbility to understand and maintain students’ and parents’ rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students ininappropriate places or with anyone not directly involved with such individualsEnsure information obtained during duties is held in the highest confidentialityPerform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures, and board policies, including mandatory reporting proceduresPrimary Duties and ResponsibilitiesOversee a classroom of students with a certified teacher available for consultationAssist students in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, and achievement of IEP objectivesAssist in lesson planning for the day’s activityAssist in identifying areas of need related to the programAssist the teacher in modifying student assignments as neededAssist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and ensure a safe and orderly classroomAssist with record‑keeping procedures to maintain required records and files, including student dataAssist students with organizing activities, scheduling events, processing paperwork, and other related activitiesBe knowledgeable of basic course content for students and the educational goals and objectivesMay assist and train students in activities of daily living as needed, including diapering/toileting, feeding, hygiene, dressing,
and mobilityFollow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all studentsPhysical DemandsEmployee must reach with hands and arms, sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend as necessary; lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing 50 to 75 pounds frequently; assist students as needed; perform manual tasks and operate equipment required for duties.
