Job Overview The Workplace Safety and Health Officer is responsible for the administration, maintenance and enhancement of the division’s workplace safety and health program. The position supports all aspects of the program including hazard identification, safe work procedures, developing and delivering safety training, and leading divisional safety and health initiatives.

- This position is being offered as an initial 12-month term. The Division anticipates reviewing its ongoing Workplace Safety & Health staffing requirements during the term, and the successful candidate may be considered for continued or permanent employment based on the outcome of that review.

Responsibilities:

- Manage and enhance the division’s Safety and Health program, ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, and internal policies
- Conduct hazard assessments, site inspections, and incident investigations, including reviewing injury reports and assisting with reporting serious incidents
- Develop and implement safety procedures and programs, such as safe work procedures and hearing conservation program
- Coordinate safety training and provide guidance to staff, students, committee members, and site representatives
- Monitor, maintain, and report on safety records and program performance, including key safety indicators and compliance follow-ups
- Act as the division’s safety liaison, communicating safety information, addressing concerns, coordinating hazardous waste removal, and working with provincial and municipal safety authorities.

Qualifications,



Skills & Abilities:

- Minimum 5 years’ experience in workplace safety and health across multiple sites, with administrative and program support responsibilities
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Safety and Health (degree or diploma) or an equivalent combination of education and experience; CRSP designation considered an asset
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and safety practices, including WHMIS, WCB reporting, accident investigation, job hazard analysis, and ergonomic assessments; disability management experience is an asset
- Experience developing and delivering educational materials to employees
- Robust interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build professional relationships, manage multiple projects, and handle confidential information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Valid Manitoba driver’s license and reliable vehicle required for travel to various schools/sites

Pay: $29.00-$33.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 per week
