Career Details
Job Title: Zoom Boom Operator
Number of Openings: Multiple
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 7:00-5:30pm Monday to Thursday 10hr days/Friday 8hr OT (Possible weekend OT work as needed)
Location: Sturgeon County / Fort Saskatchewan Area, Alberta
Position Summary
ONEX River is seeking experienced Zoom Boom Operators to support industrial construction and fabrication activities at our Sturgeon County facility and various field and site locations. Reporting to the Shop or Site Supervisor, successful candidates will safely and efficiently operate Zoom Boom (telehandler) equipment to move, position, load,
and unload materials and equipment while maintaining the highest standards of safety and productivity.
The successful candidate will have experience operating Zoom Boom equipment in an industrial or oil and gas workplace and be comfortable working around multiple trades, equipment, and active construction activities. Candidates must be dependable, safety-focused, and capable of working independently while supporting the needs of the project and site team.
Other Responsibilities Include:
- Safely operate Zoom Boom (telehandler) equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications, site procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Perform daily pre-use inspections and complete required equipment documentation.
- Safely load, unload, transport, lift, and position construction materials, equipment, piping, structural steel, and other site materials.
- Move materials throughout the fabrication shop, yard, and active industrial construction sites.
- Assist Pipefitters, Welders, Scaffolders, and other trades with the safe movement and placement of materials and equipment.
- Ensure loads are properly secured, balanced, and within the rated capacity of the equipment.
- Operate equipment safely around personnel, structures, vehicles, overhead hazards, and other mobile equipment.
- Follow site traffic plans, designated travel routes, and established lifting and material-handling procedures.
- Complete routine equipment maintenance and report mechanical deficiencies or safety concerns immediately.
- Participate in hazard assessments, toolbox meetings,
and pre-job planning.
- Maintain compliance with ONEX River and client safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with general site activities when equipment operation is not required.
- Work safely in both fabrication shop and active industrial field environments.
- Be available for overtime, shift work, weekends, and field assignments as required.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience operating Zoom Boom / Telehandler equipment in an industrial construction environment.
- Recognized Zoom Boom / Telehandler Operator certification.
- Previous oil and gas, industrial construction, fabrication, or maintenance experience is required.
- Experience working around piping, structural steel, equipment, and multiple trades is considered an asset.
- CSTS 2020.
- WHMIS 2015.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Strong knowledge of industry-related safe work practices.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, organized, and self-motivated.
- Physically capable of performing the requirements of the position and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
