Our team produces differentiated views, financial and valuation models, and publishes research that inform investment decisions. As an Associate in Equity Research, you will have an opportunity to work directly with an equity analyst on the daily publication of company and industry research reports. You will hone research skills, gain detailed understanding of the sectors covered, and obtain insight into the institutional equities business.The Mining – Base Metals Associate will work closely with the senior analyst to provide comprehensive coverage of companies across the base metals universe. The role requires a working understanding of commodity markets, mining economics,
and global macro drivers. You will be a key contributor to initiations of coverage, company updates, sector thematic pieces, and proprietary commodity models. You will also maintain and enhance financial models and databases, compile and evaluate company and industry data, and assist in the development of valuation tools.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild, maintain, and enhance detailed financial models (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, NAV, and operating models) for base metals producers, developers, and royalty/streaming companies.Develop and maintain proprietary commodity price forecasts, incorporating supply/demand fundamentals, cost curve analysis, and macro indicators.Conduct in-depth analysis of mining operations, including reserve/resource evaluation, mine plan economics, and jurisdictional risk assessment.Draft and contribute to initiation reports, earnings previews/reviews, sector notes, and ad hoc thematic research with increasing independence.Monitor daily commodity price movements, company news flow, and regulatory developments; prepare morning summaries and present ideas as needed.Support the senior analyst during investor marketing, conference calls, site visits,
and industry conferences.Engage with institutional sales and trading teams to communicate investment theses and handle client inquiries.Continuously develop sector expertise and progress toward independent capabilities aligned with your growth trajectory.Ability to work independently under strict deadlines, with an attention to detail and output orientation.Strong work ethic and ability to take initiative, ability to balance multiple tasks.Superior business writing skills, presentation skills, and interpersonal skills.Flexibility and ability to invest long hours as needed/required by business due to nature of the role.Educational AssetsStrong preference for finance and business qualifications – must be comfortable working with financial statementsChartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or CA/CPA is an assetGeology background is an assetExperience in equity research or a related discipline is an assetComfort with and enthusiasm for leveraging available AI tools in research workflows, including a working knowledge of effective prompting techniques, is considered a robust asset.Our Total Rewards PackageOur Total Rewards package reflects the investments we make in our colleagues to help them and their families achieve their financial, physical, and mental well-being goals.
