Licensed Practical Nurse - Renal DialysisWe have an exciting chance in our program for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) within the Alberta Kidney Care – North (AKC-N) program. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the LPN is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Decisions are made in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The LPN provides patient and family centred care to acute and chronic renal failure patient populations. The LPN practices nursing care according to the Hemodialysis Nursing Specialty Scope of Practice, regulating body, clinical policies, and nursing standards. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP).Additional Required QualificationsDemonstrate effective time management and organizational skills; critical thinking, problem solving, and decision‑making abilities; provide directionto other health care workers; basic computer skills; ability to work independently and in conjunction with other team members; adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workload; initiative, accountability, interpersonal, and communication skills; lift 40 lbs (18 kg); Advanced Practice Standards 3‑10 & 16‑17 required (see CLPNA Competency Profile for LPNs – 5th Edition). Must complete Hemodialysis Training in Edmonton or Red Deer (intensive 4‑week full‑time schedule, 2 additional weeks of buddy shifts, 80% pass on final exam, and satisfactory clinical performance). After successful orientation, attend a mandatory 1‑day Post‑Orientation within 3‑4 months of hire.Preferred QualificationsMinimum 1‑2 years of recent Med‑Surgical Nursing experience; recent nephrologynursing and/or hemodialysis training; Connect Care experience.Security ScreeningA satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to your first day of work.
