This vision is brought forward by ensuring Client and Family Centered Care; Health Equity; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Transparent Collaboration; Quality Improvement; and Responsive Leadership.About the roleWorking under the supervision and guidance of the DET OHT Manager of Operations and Population Health, the Operations Intern will work with DET OHT’s Operations team to provide administrative support for key initiatives and projects.With supervision and guidance from the DET OHT Manager of Operations and Population Health, the Operations Intern will provide research and administrative assistance to support the successful launch and implementation of strategic projects and initiatives in addition to general support to the DET OHT. This position is ideal for individuals interested in healthcare system transformation and community health programming.Depending on implementation constraints and timelines, some of the deliverables that the Operations Intern will support may include:Updated visuals and communication materialsDatabase maintenance of relevant health and social services to support the target population.Functional and user‑friendly tools to enhance service delivery and client intake processes.Regular updates and maintenance of project materials and resources.The Operations Intern will also be tasked with general administrative duties such as creating and/or editing PowerPoint slide presentations, updating databases and websites, taking notes, and transcribing. As such, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the ongoing business of the DET OHT (e.G., attending meetings, participating in committee work, writing reports)



to provide support to colleagues and the project team as required.We Believe in Work‑Life Balance and OfferMembership in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).Responsibilities and TasksResearch SkillsReview and synthesize peer‑reviewed and grey literature, and analyze internal documents and databases related to project needs.Conduct a thorough environmental scan to assess primary care needs for the target population.Developing data collection methods, including survey design, through appropriate platforms i.E. Survey MonkeyIf needed, support key informant interviews, through development of interview guide and synthesis and analysis of key findingsProviding summary of evidence‑based findings to the Supervisor, organized in relevant population health themesEditing and analyzing data throughout projectDeveloping key themes and findings, and comparing survey data with evidence review with support from the Operations ManagerProject Design and ImplementationDevelop and maintain a database that consolidates primary care, health, and social services information.Create visual summaries of services to support attachment to and access to comprehensive primary care for the target population.Design and create tools to facilitate the successful implementation of health services such as a screening/intake tool and a navigation cheat sheet.Project Management and AdministrationWriting meeting minutes and notes during meetings; transcribing meetings if neededUpdating internal databases as requiredDeveloping project tools as required i.E. screening, intakeSending email reminders as necessaryScheduling meetings including via Zoom and/or phone as necessaryMonitoring data collection and informing Supervisor of any issues as they ariseCommunity Member EngagementAssist with engaging Community Members in co‑designTo Thrive in This Role, You’ll NeedEducation and ExperienceAt least 3 years of undergraduate experience, preferably in Public Health, Community Health Sciences, Social Work,



Psychology and/or equivalentExperience working with priority populations is an assetProven interpersonal and organizational skills in a professional setting.Diligent and self‑motivated with a high proficiency in written and verbal communication.Knowledge and SkillsUnderstanding community health priorities is an asset.Must have basic research skills including ability to review the evidence‑base, including retrieving peer‑reviewed journal articles.Ability to design research tools including but not limited to surveys or key informant interview guides.Excellent organizational and administrative skills.Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and achieve results in a timely manner.Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with staff, peers and stakeholders.Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to recognize when to appropriately escaladeProficient in data management and visualization tools including but not limited to advanced use of PowerPoint.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Proficient computer skills including Zoom and Survey Monkey.Excellent English language skills – both oral and written.Conditions of EmploymentOffer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory outcome of background checks i.E., professional references, education verification, criminal background check, and vulnerable sector check.Understands and works within the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), the Ontario Human Rights Code and other relevant legislation.Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with SHC related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices.Working ConditionsThis position requires working in a fast‑paced setting meeting the needs of multiple stakeholders.
