Company:IWK HealthReq ID:221068Department/Program:PICU, Children's Medical CareLocation:Halifax, Nova ScotiaType of Employment:Temporary Hourly, 100% FTE until 1 July 2027, 1 positionStart Date:ASAPUnion Status:Unifor Service, Support Bargaining UnitCompensation:$21.6797 - $24.5419 /hourClosing Date:21 May 2026 (Applications accepted until 23:59 Atlantic Time)ResponsibilitiesPrimary role in ordering supplies for the service/unit.Cleaning and disinfecting in accordance with approved guidelines.Assist with unit quality initiatives within the roles and responsibilities of a Unit Aide.Complete monthly Workplace Inspection Report (as required); initiate action for needed repairs or safety issues and report to the appropriate person.Ensure patient rooms and the family lounge are clean and tidy.Leadership role in ordering non-stock items.Maintain equipment required for the unit.Transport defective equipment to Biomedical Engineering.Deliver requisitions, specimens, x-rays, etc., as required.Hours of WorkMonday - Friday, weekends; rotating shiftsQualificationsMinimum High School Diploma or GED required.Previous Unit Aide experience preferred.Valuable communication skills required.Commitment to Family Centred Care required.Must be able to organize and prioritize work effectively.Knowledge of Health Centre fire response regulations required.Competency in other languages considered an asset.Short‑listed candidates will be required to complete a written skills testing questionnaire. This questionnaire will assess topics such as WHIMS, infection control, privacy and confidentiality, and more.
