RoleTitle:BIM Technician - ElectricalLocation:Vancouver, BCJob Type:Hybrid – WFH + In-OfficeSalary Range:$58,000 – $74,000About the RoleThe Vancouver office of Smith + Andersen is seeking a BIM Technician. The BIM Technician is discipline specific and has working knowledge of the Autodesk Revit building information modelling platform. The BIM Technician works under the direct supervision of a project engineer/designer. Using Revit, the BIM Technician prepares drawing packages including plans, layouts, schematics and detailed scale drawings.ResponsibilitiesModel and/or design for a single discipline, preparing drawing packages such as plans, layouts, schematics, and detailed scale drawings using files and the S+A Prototype standard drawing setup at the onset of a project.Produce and/or modify a BIM from sketches, mark‑ups and/or designs as required by the project team to suit design requirements, consultant changes, scope changes and/or general updates.Review models against markups to ensure accuracy of work in the three‑dimensional model and resultant two‑dimensional drawings.Collaborate and communicate with other disciplines to address design changes and model challenges.Populate and maintain the parametric database within a model as needed to meet design requirements.Identify and discuss interferences or space issues with the project team for resolution and change implementation, including three‑dimensional analysis using Revit or other software such as Navisworks.Prepare submissions for issuance, plotting and archives.Control and maintain models in an organized manner in the appropriate project directory system, as per company standards.Adhere to office BIM standards and prototype standards,
including the project BIM Execution Plan and Level of Development matrix.Layout pipes, ductwork, lighting, cable tray, or conduits, and identify clashes; when required, produce schematic drawings and identify sizing requirements.Review layouts of lighting services for interferences with major building elements such as structure, ceilings, walls, etc.Perform any other BIM tasks required to assist in the completion of working drawings.QualificationsAt least one year working experience in BIM is required.College diploma from an architectural or electrical building services program; or a related field withrelevant work experience.Knowledge of electrical distribution, security, communications, and/or audio‑visual systems are preferred assets.Knowledge and experience working with Autodesk Revit 2017 or newer, with exposure to electrical and systems layouts.Experience with shared parameters, scheduling, family editing, etc. is an asset.Working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks Manage, and Dynamo software.Proficiency with Microsoft Office suites, specifically Word and Excel.Outstanding organizational and time‑management skills.Highly innovative and motivated with an attention to detail.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Able to work independently, as well as contribute to the team.BenefitsCompetitive salaryFlexible hours and half‑day Fridays (all year round)Comprehensive Group Health Advantages Program, including a Health Spending AccountGroup Retirement Savings Plan (Employer and Employee Contributions)Employee Share Ownership Program (ESOP)Purchase Time off ProgramTransit Subsidy ProgramWide variety of community and social eventsEqual Opportunity EmployerSmith + Andersen is an equal opportunity employer.#J-18808-Ljbffr
