Client Profile
Our client is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Law Clerk Workplace Investigations to support a busy and sophisticated workplace investigations practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a Law Clerk who enjoys investigative work, critical analysis, and managing complex and sensitive information.
The successful candidate will work closely with investigators throughout the investigative process, reviewing extensive documentation, conducting and documenting interviews, and assisting with the preparation of comprehensive reports for senior-level stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with complex workplace investigations involving matters such as sexual assault, harassment, human rights, workplace respect, regulatory issues, and health-related defences;
- Review and analyze extensive documentation, records, and evidence, including matters that may span multiple years;
- Organize and synthesize complex information to create clear, comprehensive investigative files;
- Assist with the preparation of detailed investigative reports for senior stakeholders, including vice-presidents, university deans, and other senior decision-makers;
- Conduct and document interviews as part of the investigative and assessment process;
- Identify, organize, and summarize key facts and evidence relevant to investigations;
- Maintain accurate and highly organized investigative records and documentation;
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and sound judgement;
- Provide administrative and file management support to investigators as required; and
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a busy, fast-paced workplace.
Requirements
- Law Clerk Diploma or equivalent education;
- Exceptional analytical and critical-thinking skills;
- Superior attention to detail and organizational abilities;
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills, with experience preparing formal documents and reports;
- Advanced technical proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office and document management systems;
- Ability to review, understand, and synthesize large volumes of complex information;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated discretion and sound judgement when handling confidential and sensitive matters;
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines; and
- An interest in workplace investigations, human rights, and complex fact-finding matters.
This role is particularly well suited to someone who thrives on deep analysis, investigative work, and managing complex information and who wants to play an important role in supporting fair, comprehensive, and thorough workplace investigations.
