We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and patient live-in caregiver to support my parents in their home in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. My mom is 86 and is being discharged from hospital after a fall. She has kidney and congestive heart issues but is secure. She has dementia and will need gentle, respectful assistance as she settles back at home. My dad is 90 and lives with her. He loves his garden. They are Southern European, so someone who appreciates European home cooking, traditions, and a family-oriented setting would be a wonderful fit. The home has stair lifts to the upstairs and basement. Mom will need help with safe transfers, including assistance getting on and off the chair lift, bathing, dressing, mobility, and day-to-day personal care. Main responsibilities Provide compassionate companionship and supervision for my mom, with dementia-friendly care and patience. Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and safe transfers. Help Mom safely use the stair lift and move around the home. Prepare nutritious meals, meal-plan, shop as needed, and accommodate familiar European-style foods where possible. Support medication reminders as directed by family or health-care professionals. Help with light housekeeping, laundry, kitchen clean-up, and keeping the home safe and organized. Provide basic support and companionship for Dad as needed. Communicate clearly with family about Mom's condition, routines, appointments, and any concerns. Be comfortable supporting a person returning home after a hospital discharge. Ideal candidate Kind, calm, dependable, and respectful.



Experienced caring for seniors with dementia. Confident with personal care, bathing, mobility support, and transfers. Training or experience in safe-transfer techniques is strongly preferred. Comfortable cooking healthy, home-style meals. Able to live in the home and respect privacy and family routines. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred. PSW, nursing, or formal caregiving experience is an asset. References and a vulnerable-sector police check will be required. This is a live-in position. Compensation, schedule, days off, accommodation, and other details can be discussed based on experience and fit.
