Job Description:

We are looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join our client's team in Winnipeg, Manitoba on a 1 - 2 months contract. This role is well suited to an accounting specialist who brings strong experience in financial record-keeping, accounts payable, and account reconciliation within a structured environment. The successful candidate will contribute to accurate financial processing, support period-end activities, and work across multiple systems to maintain reliable accounting data.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and post journal entries while ensuring amounts are assigned correctly across the appropriate general ledger accounts.

- Review incoming invoices for completeness, accuracy, and correct account coding before processing them through the accounts payable cycle.

- Support day-to-day payable operations by matching invoices to supporting documentation, coordinating payments, and resolving vendor account discrepancies.

- Maintain compliance with established accounting standards and internal controls by recording transactions accurately and consistently.

- Use subledger tools and enterprise financial systems to monitor detailed account activity and complete reconciliations.





- Assist with account analysis and balance sheet reconciliations to support monthly and year-end close requirements.

- Partner with internal stakeholders to address accounting issues, improve data accuracy, and ensure financial information is entered on time.

- Adapt quickly to recent accounting applications and system processes as business needs evolve.

Requirements:

- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a hands-on finance or accounting role.
- Demonstrated background in accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, and general accounting activities.
- Proficiency with accounting software platforms and financial systems, including experience with tools such as ADP, CaseWare, Ceridian, or Concur.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and accurate financial record maintenance.
- Experience working with subledger systems and reviewing high-volume transactional data.
- Ability to analyze account activity, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues efficiently.
- Familiarity with financial statements, auditing support, and period-end close processes.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
