About Tutor Doctor Richmond Hill
Tutor Doctor Richmond Hill provides personalized, one-to-one tutoring that supports students academically and builds confidence. Sessions take place either virtually or in the student’s home, and tutors are carefully matched with families to ensure the best learning experience.
Role Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and patient tutors who can support students with French language development, including reading comprehension, writing skills, speaking, and overall communication. This role is ideal for tutors who enjoy helping students improve literacy, confidence, and academic performance in a supportive one-on-one setting.
Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 French tutoring sessions (in-home or virtual).
- Support all levels of French, including early literacy (phonics/vocabulary), Core French, and Secondary French Immersion (Literature & Composition).
- Provide comprehensive support in grammar, verb conjugation, and syntax.
- Facilitate conversational practice to improve oral fluency and pronunciation.
- Assist with reading comprehension and creative writing assignments.
- Prepare customized learning approaches based on the student’s specific program (Immersion vs. Core).
- Provide regular feedback to families regarding the student’s progress and areas for growth.
- Maintain punctuality and a skilled, encouraging demeanor.
- Assess students’ proficiency levels to create targeted lesson plans that bridge gaps in understanding.
- Support students with homework,
oral presentations, and preparation for standardized tests (e.g., DELF exams).
Requirements
- Native or near-native fluency in French (written and spoken).
- Proven experience working with children and teenagers in an educational or tutoring capacity.
- Strong understanding of the French curriculum for both elementary and secondary levels.
- Ability to teach French Immersion subjects (e.g., helping a student understand History or Science taught in French).
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex linguistic rules in an easy-to-understand way.
- Patience and creativity in engaging younger learners with games, songs, or interactive tools.
- Proficiency in computer skills and digital learning platforms for virtual sessions.
- Cultural knowledge to help students appreciate the diversity of the Francophone world.
- Passion for language learning and helping students overcome the "language barrier" with confidence.
- Must pass a background check

Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
