About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for an 82-year-old woman living independently in her family home in Markham. She has dementia with short-term memory loss but remains independent with dressing and bathing. She no longer cooks for herself and advantages greatly from companionship and supervision throughout the day. She values conversation over tea or coffee and requires a caregiver who speaks fluent Greek to communicate comfortably.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare lunch daily and prep dinner that can be reheated in the microwave
- Provide medication reminders at 11:30 am and ensure morning pills are taken
- Monitor and record blood pressure daily
- Light housekeeping and tidying
- Engage in meaningful conversation in Greek over tea or coffee
- Provide supervision for safety due to cognitive decline
- Occasionally provide transportation for errands or appointments
- Support with light exercises and prepare herbal teas
- Maintain clear communication with family members about daily activities and any concerns

What We're Looking For:

- Fluent Greek speaker (essential requirement)
- Experience with dementia care and cognitive support
- Calm, patient demeanor with positive energy
- Reliable and consistent with excellent communication skills
- Takes initiative when needed while respecting independence
- Comfortable with medication reminders and basic health monitoring
- Valid driver's license for occasional transportation needs
- Strong companionship skills and ability to engage in meaningful conversation

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM (3-4 hours daily). This schedule is for September with the expectation of increased hours in the following months as care needs evolve. Consistency and reliability are essential as the client thrives on routine.
