Heavy Equipment Technician

Our client is currently looking for a Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician to join their team in Taber, AB. This role is perfect for a certified technician with a strong mechanical background who enjoys diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of agricultural and heavy-duty equipment.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain agricultural and heavy-duty equipment, including tractors, combines, loaders, excavators, and more.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems to identify issues and perform accurate repairs.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections to ensure equipment operates efficiently and reliably.
- Test and operate repaired equipment to confirm that repairs meet safety and performance standards.
- Mentor apprentices and junior technicians, sharing knowledge and best practices to support their growth.
- Order and manage parts inventory to ensure timely availability for repairs and maintenance.
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed.

Qualifications
- Red Seal Certification as an Agricultural Equipment Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician.
- 4+ years of experience repairing agricultural or heavy-duty equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with expertise in diagnosing complex systems, including hydraulics, electrical, and powertrains.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic software and specialized tools to identify and resolve issues.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality repairs.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Able to lift heavy parts and equipment (up to 60–70 lbs) and perform tasks like standing, bending, and crouching for extended periods.
