Role and responsibilities

Reporting to the Quality Control Team Leader, the Metrology Technician is responsible for carrying out inspection assignments on parts produced through machining or plastic injection processes, using measurement equipment and conventional measuring tools, and for preparing detailed inspection reports.

Main tasks

- Perform various geometric and dimensional measurements and inspections of parts using CMM machines (Zeiss and Mitutoyo) as well as conventional measuring tools (FARO arm, calipers, verniers, height gauges, etc.);
- Read, interpret, and follow information provided in drawings, routing sheets, CAD software (such as CATIA and TopSolid), procedures, schedules, and other reference documents to carry out required tasks;
- Develop CMM programs (Calypso and PolyWorks) to measure parts, assemblies, and equipment according to engineering drawings and theoretical 3D models;
- Conduct surface roughness and topography measurements using a laser microscope;
- Perform dimensional, visual, and photometric inspections of all manufactured parts, both during production and at final inspection;
- Analyze inspection data and determine whether parts comply with specified requirements and engineering drawings;
- Prepare fixtures and files required for electroform back-machining operations, either for personal use or for other Quality Control Technicians;
- Participate in inspections and verifications during new equipment start-ups and setup validations;
- Prepare and distribute inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and calibration certificates as required;
- Conduct Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R;) studies and capability analyses (Cp, Cpk, etc.);
- Verify the calibration status of measuring instruments (CMMs and conventional tools) and inspection gauges;




- Contribute to the optimization and continuous improvement of inspection cycles and processes;
- Disassemble electroform back-machining fixtures to clean and protect machined electroforms;
- Participate in technical problem-solving activities and in the selection and acquisition of recent measuring instruments;
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;) and oversee GD&T; practices across all DBM products;
- Perform other related metrology duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Education and Experience

- College diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or an equivalent field of study;
- Bilingualism in French and English, both spoken and written, is essential;
- Experience in metrology, dimensional inspection, and geometric inspection is required;
- Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;), including ASME Y14.5 or ISO 1101 standards, as well as surface roughness measurement techniques;
- Basic mathematical skills are required;
- Proficiency with computer applications and software, including Microsoft Office 365, MATLAB, metrology software, CATIA, and PolyWorks;
- Experience operating CMM equipment and conventional measuring instruments.

The incumbent will be required to travel between the company's two facilities, located less than one kilometer apart.
