This opening is for a position of Journeyman Welder and Shop Foreman at our Train Energy Structural Fabrication Facility in Didsbury AB.

Monday - Friday 10hr days

MUST BE LOCAL as this opening does not have paid travel or LOA.

Must have experience with MCAW and hold a valid CWB Ticket.

Must have a valid journeyman ticket.

Must have fab shop experience.

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Welder to join our dynamic manufacturing and construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components with precision and efficiency. Your expertise in various welding techniques, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will ensure the highest quality standards are met across diverse projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at manufacturing facilities, utilizing your technical skills to contribute to impactful projects in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements and procedures.
- Perform FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and welding techniques to join metal components accurately.
- Use hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment to shape, cut, and assemble parts and materials for completion of projects.
- Operate overhead cranes, rigging and equipment, and lifting tools safely to handle heavy materials and assemblies on construction sites or within manufacturing settings.
- Measure materials with precision tools to ensure proper fit-up according to specifications.
- Fabricate custom metal parts by cutting, bending, welding, and assembling components following ASME codes & standards.




- Conduct quality inspections using basic math skills and schematics to verify dimensions and weld integrity.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and materials while adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Collaborate with team members on complex fabrication projects involving mechanical assembly or pipe installation.
- Follow safety guidelines related to rigging, crane operation, and working at heights when required.

Skills

- Proven experience working on construction sites with a strong understanding of site safety procedures.
- Proficiency in MIG welding, FCAW welding techniques, as well as specific welding standards.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately for fabrication and assembly tasks.
- Skilled in operating hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment.
- Experience with crane operation, rigging techniques, forklift operation, and pipe threading is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with ASME codes & standards for welding quality assurance in manufacturing or construction environments.
- Competence in basic math calculations necessary for measurements and quality control inspections.
