Reporting to the Vice President, the Sales Consultant – Aviation is responsible for supporting the profitable growth of Exchange Petroleum’s commercial petroleum business through the development of new customer relationships and the retention and expansion of existing accounts.
The Sales Consultant develops a strong understanding of customer operations, fuel requirements, purchasing patterns and service expectations in order to provide responsive, value-added solutions. The position actively identifies new business opportunities, develops and manages a targeted sales pipeline, prepares competitive proposals and pricing recommendations, and works collaboratively with internal teams to ensure customer commitments can be effectively delivered.
The role requires strong knowledge of the aviation industry, including aviation fuel requirements, airport and flight operations, fuel supply and delivery considerations, competitive market conditions, and the operational needs of air carriers, charter and cargo operators, aviation service providers, government customers and other aviation organizations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Develop and maintain sales materials, reference documents and other resources to support promotional activities and drive aviation fuel sales growth.
· Support the profitable sale of aviation fuel products and services and contribute to annual revenue, volume and margin objectives.
· Identify and pursue new aviation business opportunities to expand the customer base, increase fuel volumes and grow market share.
· Manage and maintain existing aviation customer accounts, including pricing, service requirements, relationship management and ongoing account support.
· Build and maintain strong, value-added business relationships with existing and prospective aviation customers and industry stakeholders.
· Develop an understanding of customer flight operations, routes, locations, fuel requirements and service expectations to identify additional business opportunities.
· Monitor aviation market activity, customer needs, industry trends, route and operational developments,
and competitive activity to identify opportunities and support sales strategies.
· Develop, maintain and actively manage a targeted prospect list and sales pipeline, including regular follow-up on potential aviation business opportunities.
· Prepare customer quotations, proposals, tenders, pricing information and sales presentations as required.
· Collaborate with Operations and other internal departments to assess customer requirements, support new business opportunities, resolve service concerns and ensure effective delivery of customer commitments.
· Maintain current knowledge of Company aviation fuel products, services, operating locations, pricing practices and capabilities while continuously developing aviation industry, sales and negotiation knowledge.
· Coordinate and participate in aviation trade shows, industry events, conferences, customer meetings and other business development activities as required.
· Maintain accurate customer, prospect and sales activity information and provide sales updates, forecasts and reporting as required.
· Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· 2–5 years of business-to-business sales, account management, business development or commercial experience within the aviation industry.
· Previous aviation industry experience is required, with experience in aviation fuel, airline operations, airport operations, ground handling, charter operations, aviation services or a related area strongly preferred.
· Demonstrated knowledge of the aviation operating setting and the commercial and operational needs of aviation customers.
· Knowledge of aviation fuel products, fuel supply and distribution, airport fueling operations and related service requirements is considered a strong asset.
· Demonstrated ability to identify and develop new business opportunities and manage long-term customer relationships.
· University degree or diploma in Business, Aviation Management, Marketing, Sales or a related field is considered an asset.
· Strong business acumen with the ability to understand pricing, margins, customer requirements and commercial opportunities.
· Demonstrated negotiation, relationship-building and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, operational stakeholders and employees at all levels of an organization, including senior management.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple customer accounts, prospects, proposals and priorities.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable working with customer relationship management and other business systems.
· Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
