Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Supports the Privacy Officer in the day-to-day operations of TransLink’s privacy compliance program, including drafting and reviewing privacy impact assessments, providing privacy training and advice, and developing, coordinating and implementing privacy policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure that TransLink’s programs and activities comply with BC’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Collaborates with internal clients and project teams to draft, review and revise privacy impact assessments (PIAs). Maintains positive working relationships with clients while exercising tact and diplomacy to promote proactive collaboration and reinforce TransLink’s culture of privacy.

Reviews and analyzes programs and activities to identify real and potential privacy risks to TransLink. Makes recommendations to the Privacy Officer on risk mitigation strategies and monitors the implementation of strategies.

Contributes to TransLink’s ongoing privacy compliance program improvement efforts. Makes recommendations to the Privacy Officer regarding privacy strategic direction, priorities, policies, guidelines and procedures.

Provides privacy advice, expertise, and guidance to internal clients on moderately complex matters to ensure the consistent and effective interpretation and application of FOIPPA and alignment with TransLink’s policies and standards.

Assists the Privacy Officer in privacy breach responses, investigations and mitigations.



Assists in the handling of moderately complex privacy related queries and complaints, including monitoring and responding to relevant emails in shared mailbox.

Assists the Privacy Officer in educating employees across the enterprise on Privacy related topics, requirements and processes. Works with Privacy Officer to present training sessions to larger groups, as requested.

Performs related duties in keeping with the functions and accountabilities of the role.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The competencies for this position are acquired through completion of a university degree in a related discipline, plus at least four (4) years of recent, relevant experience with privacy regulatory requirements and compliance issues.

Completion of a privacy related certificate program (e.g., CIPP/C, CIPM) would be an asset.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Advanced knowledge of the protection of privacy requirements of BC's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources when conducting reviews, investigations and assessments.

Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrates ability to establish and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with internal clients and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Effective time management and organizational skills to manage multiple high priority projects simultaneously and prioritize workloads to meet shifting deadlines.

Strong knowledge of MS Office suite.

Other Information

This role offers the opportunity to support and enhance TransLink's enterprise privacy program by leading Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), providing privacy guidance to stakeholders, and contributing to privacy compliance initiatives across the organization.

Preferred qualifications include:

- Experience supporting enterprise-wide privacy programs.
- Privacy certifications such as CIPP/C or CIPM.
- Background in IT, data architecture, infrastructure,



or cybersecurity.
- Robust stakeholder engagement, written communication, and project management skills.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Work Schedule

37.5 hours per week.

Work Designation

Hybrid

This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.

Rate of Pay

The salary for this position ranges from $77,520 - $116,280 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.
