Patient Experience Assistant

EYES – Dr. Abby Jakob Optometrist | Kingsville, ON

We’re growing our EYES team!

We’re looking for a friendly, outgoing, organized, and motivated Patient Experience Assistant who loves connecting with people and making sure things get done!

This role is all about helping us create an amazing patient experience even when our patients aren’t in the office. You’ll be keeping in touch with patients, helping coordinate their care, following up, scheduling appointments, managing recalls and referrals, and making sure no one falls through the cracks.

You’ll also get to learn the clinical side of eye care! We’ll train you on our pre-testing and diagnostic technology so you can jump in and support our in-office team when needed.

Patient Communication & Follow-Through

A big part of your day will be connecting with our patients and helping keep their care on track. You’ll be:

- Answering and responding to patient phone calls, texts, and emails
- Scheduling, rescheduling, and coordinating appointments
- Reaching out to patients who are due or overdue for care
- Completing patient recalls and follow-ups
- Making sure patients are booked for the right appointment at the right time
- Sending, receiving, and tracking referrals to other healthcare providers
- Following up with patients regarding referrals and next steps
- Helping patients with questions and connecting them with the right team member when needed




- Keeping patient information accurate and up to date
- Keeping track of outstanding patient needs and making sure nothing gets missed
- Completing OHIP submissions and reconciliation and helping resolve outstanding or rejected claims

You’ll Get Hands-On With Eye Care Too!

When our in-office team needs an extra set of hands, you’ll jump into pre-testing and help keep our patient flow moving.

You’ll be trained to:

- Perform testing such as OCT, retinal imaging, autorefraction, IOP, visual fields, Neurolens testing, LipiScan, and blood pressure
- Educate patients on what each test does, what we’re looking at, and why it’s important to their eye care
- Accurately document testing results
- Clean and maintain testing equipment and pre-testing areas
- Help keep patients moving smoothly through the clinic
- Support our Front Desk Coordinator and the rest of the EYES team when needed
- Learn new testing technology and protocols as we continue to grow
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing training

What About Experience?

Previous experience in optometry, healthcare, reception, customer service, or another people-focused role is definitely an asset — but it’s not required!

We care just as much about finding someone with the right personality, work ethic, organization, and willingness to learn.

We can teach you the eye stuff!
