We are staffing a short, hands-on front-end engagement for a client product already in the wild.

The app is a Next.js product with chat, project boards, onboarding, and settings. Backend has an owner. Screens and design direction already exist. We need someone who can drop into that codebase, make the UI match the intended design, and tidy up messy or AI-generated front-end without starting over.

This is a craft job, not a leadership job. You will not set brand or product strategy. You will ship accurate UI, notice when implementation drifted from Figma, and leave the component layer in better shape.

The work

- Walk the current App Router UI and fix the inconsistencies that actually slow the team down
- Implement Figma with tight fidelity: spacing, type, empty/error/loading states, mobile
- Hunt visual regressions (wrong copy, extra chrome, missing controls, layout that “almost” matches)
- Polish the surfaces we prioritize: conversation cards, setup flows, board/timeline, account/settings
- Add product analytics events (PostHog or equivalent)



and small third-party widgets when asked
- Pair with a backend-leaning engineer plus the client’s product/design leads, ~10–15 hours a week

Tools we actually use

React, TypeScript, Next.js App Router, Tailwind, shadcn/ui / Radix, Figma.

You should already have

- Five or more years shipping React in production
- Real App Router work (not just Pages Router)
- Strict TypeScript and a component library you did not throw away every sprint
- A story about improving an inherited UI while features still went out
- Comfort executing someone else’s screens
- Availability for one weekly sync on Eastern Time

Helpful, not required: streamed chat UIs, PostHog, PWA/push, other AI-product front ends.

Terms

Independent contractor. $60–$80/hr. 10–15 hours/week. About two months+. Not a full time hire.

Pay: $60.00-$80.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 15.0 per week
