Western Maritime Institute – Ladysmith, BCWestern Maritime Institute (WMI) is seeking experienced marine professionals to join our instructor team for the delivery of Basic and Advanced Training for Service on Ships Subject to the IGF Code at our Ladysmith Campus on Vancouver Island.This is a great prospect for experienced marine engineers with LNG, IGF Code, or liquefied gas tanker experience who are interested in sharing their operational knowledge and experience with other marine professionals.Instructor QualificationsCandidates should have a strong marine engineering background and relevant LNG, IGF Code, or liquefied gas tanker experience.In accordance with Transport Canada instructor requirements, candidates must hold, at minimum:

- A Second-Class Engineer (Second Engineer STCW) Certificate of Competency, in accordance with STCW Regulation III/2; and
- A Certificate of Proficiency in either:
- Advanced Training for Service on Ships Subject to the IGF Code, or
- Advanced Training for Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations.

Candidates holding a First-Class Engineer (Chief Engineer STCW) Certificate of Competency with applicable Advanced IGF or Advanced Liquefied Gas Tanker certification issued by a foreign maritime administration may also be considered,



subject to Transport Canada requirements.Candidates must have appropriate knowledge and experience in the subject matter being taught and be appropriately trained in instructional techniques and training methods in accordance with STCW requirements.Previous teaching or instructional experience is an asset.We are interested in candidates with:

- Practical experience aboard LNG-fuelled, dual-fuel, or liquefied gas vessels
- Experience with LNG fuel systems and/or bunkering operations
- Senior marine engineering experience
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- An interest in training and mentoring marine professionals
