The Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics invites applications for a part-time Associate Program Director for the MSc in Genetic Counselling Program (5–10 hours/week), commencing November 16, 2026, or on a date mutually agreed upon. This is a nine-month term position ending August 31, 2027. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Under the general direction of the MSc Genetic Counselling Program Director and the Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics, the Associate Program Director will provide academic and administrative leadership in support of the delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of the Genetic Counselling Program (GCP). Working within the overall policies, regulations, procedures and objectives of the program, the Associate Program Director will:

- Assist in the continuous evaluation of the GCP and implementation of recommendations of the GCP Advisory Committee;
- Assist in developing, reviewing and revising the GCP mission, objectives, desired outcomes and philosophy through strategic planning;
- Collaborate in the development, coordination and evaluation of clinical and non-clinical rotations;
- Collaborate in the development, coordination and evaluation of curriculum, courses and educational content;
- Support and provide leadership to faculty, clinical supervisors and other educators involved in the delivery of the program;
- Collaborate to ensure that the GCP achieves and maintains compliance with Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC) Accreditation Standards and supports graduate eligibility for Canadian and American genetic counselling certification examinations;
- Participate as a member of the GCP Advisory Committee;
- Represent the GCP in a variety of forums including the University, clinical placement settings, community and relevant genetic counselling education and professional organizations;
- Take an active role in the GCP admissions process; and
- Provide mentorship, consultation and support to students, including regular availability by email, telephone and designated in-person office hours.

The Genetic Counselling Program takes an interdisciplinary and cooperative approach to genetic health, research and education in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The two-year, thesis-based MSc program is offered by the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics in collaboration with the Shared Health Program of Genetics and Metabolism and holds full accreditation status through the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC). Students receive academic, clinical and research training and gain experience working with diverse patient populations across urban, rural and remote settings. The program's mission is to deliver exceptional academic, clinical and research training in a collaborative and supportive environment that embraces diverse perspectives to provide genomic health care in Manitoba and beyond. The successful candidate will have:

- Hold a Master's degree in genetic counselling;
- Hold current certification in genetic counselling by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG);
- Have at least five years of experience as a certified genetic counsellor;




- Have demonstrated knowledge and experience in genetic counselling practice and related topics;
- Have demonstrated skills and ability in teaching and clinical supervision of genetic counselling students;
- Have training or coursework in curriculum design, assessment, evaluation, adult learning or health professions education; and
- Have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

Preferred qualifications include:

- Experience in genetic counselling education, curriculum development, program evaluation, accreditation, educational leadership and/or administration
