About the Position

EPIC Recovery is seeking a passionate and engaging professional to facilitate recovery-focused groups, workshops, courses, and educational programming for adults experiencing substance-use concerns, individuals in recovery, and family members or other loved ones affected by someone’s substance use or addiction.

We are looking for someone who enjoys learning, sharing information, and helping people understand complex topics in practical and meaningful ways. The successful candidate will be curious, well prepared, receptive to feedback, and enthusiastic about continuing to learn and grow with EPIC.

Facilitators work from EPIC-developed materials, program outlines, and learning objectives while bringing their own warmth, professionalism, energy, and authentic facilitation style to each session. This position requires more than reading information from a script. The facilitator must be able to understand the material, communicate it clearly, encourage thoughtful discussion, and respond appropriately to the needs of the group.

Primary Responsibilities

- Facilitate assigned groups, workshops, courses, and psychoeducational sessions using EPIC-approved content and program structures.
- Prepare thoroughly by reviewing session materials, activities, learning objectives, and relevant background information.
- Present information in a clear, engaging, and accessible manner.
- Help individuals in recovery and affected family members connect educational content with recovery, relationships, emotional well-being, healthy boundaries, behaviour change, and everyday life.
- Encourage discussion and participation without pressuring individuals to disclose personal information.
- Maintain a respectful, person-first, non-stigmatizing, and emotionally safe group environment.
- Manage group dynamics, including interruptions, dominant participation, conflict, solid emotions, and off-topic discussion.




- Maintain clear professional boundaries and redirect concerns that fall outside the facilitator’s role or the purpose of the group.
- Recognize potential safety concerns and follow EPIC’s procedures for consultation, escalation, emergency response, and incident reporting.
- Complete required attendance records, session documentation, feedback forms, and related administrative tasks accurately and promptly.
- Communicate concerns, client feedback, program needs, and opportunities for improvement to EPIC leadership.
- Participate in orientation, training, consultation, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
- Assist with session set-up and leave program spaces and materials organized after each session.
- Follow EPIC’s policies, confidentiality requirements, professional standards, and established program delivery methods.

Required Qualifications and Availability

- Relevant education, training, professional experience, or a combination of demonstrated experience and competency in addiction, recovery, mental health, counselling, social services, adult education, health promotion, group facilitation, or community programming.
- Experience facilitating groups, workshops, presentations, training, or educational programming.
- Solid verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn new material and communicate it accurately and confidently.
- Comfort discussing substance use, addiction, recovery, family dynamics, relationships, boundaries, emotional health, behaviour change, and the effects that addiction can have on loved ones.
- Ability to remain calm, respectful, and professional when individuals express strong emotions or differing perspectives.
- Sound judgment and a clear understanding of confidentiality, professional boundaries, scope of role, and when concerns must be escalated.
- Strong preparation, organization, time-management, and follow-through.
- Ability to receive feedback constructively and apply it to future sessions.
- Consistent availability during evenings and weekends. This is not primarily a daytime position.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check as a condition of employment.




- Ability to provide professional references as part of the selection process.
- Comfort using email, virtual meeting platforms, presentation materials, and electronic documentation.

Preferred Assets

- Professional registration, certification, or recognized training relevant to addiction, recovery, counselling, social work, psychotherapy, education, or group facilitation.
- Knowledge of substance use, relapse prevention, recovery maintenance, emotional regulation, family systems, healthy relationships, boundaries, caregiver well-being, or behaviour change.
- Experience working with adults from varied personal, cultural, socioeconomic, family, and recovery backgrounds.
- Experience facilitating both in-person and virtual programming.
- Lived experience related to recovery or supporting a loved one may be an asset when it can be shared thoughtfully, selectively, and with appropriate professional boundaries. Personal disclosure is not required.

Scope of the Role

This role focuses on group facilitation, education, and structured recovery programming. Facilitators must work within their education, professional qualifications, assigned responsibilities, and EPIC-approved program content.

Facilitators must not provide individualized clinical advice, diagnosis, crisis intervention, or psychotherapy unless they are appropriately qualified, specifically authorized by EPIC, and acting within the scope of their professional designation and assigned role.

EPIC Recovery is a private outpatient addiction counselling and recovery centre in London, Ontario, supporting individuals experiencing substance-use concerns, people in recovery, and families affected by a loved one’s addiction.

Our approach is person-first, abstinence-oriented, and grounded in the biological, psychological, emotional, social, relational, and spiritual dimensions of recovery.

We are a growing organization, and our programs continue to develop. Team members must be comfortable asking questions, receiving direction, adapting to change, contributing ideas, and continuing to build their professional skills.
