Position Overview

Select Surfaces Corp is seeking a detail-driven and organized Assistant Production Manager to support our custom stone fabrication operations. In this role, you will work closely with shop floor technicians, Project Managers, and the Shipping department to ensure custom stone jobs flow seamlessly from cutting to final delivery. You will be responsible for maintaining the daily production schedule, assigning jobs to the right fabrication stations, upholding rigorous quality control standards, and tracking inventory readiness.

Key Responsibilities

- Production Scheduling & Routing: Maintain and update the daily fabrication schedule. Review job specifications (drawings, cut sheets, edge profiles) and route work orders directly to the appropriate CNC operators, sawyers, and hand fabricators.
- Quality Assurance & Inspection: Conduct mid-process and final QC inspections on finished pieces (checking dimensions, cutouts, edge details, surface finish, seams, and color matching) prior to packaging.
- Project Management Liaison: Collaborate daily with Project Managers to review job priorities, communicate fabrication timelines, clarify custom drawing details, and accommodate rush orders or field revisions.
- Shipping & Inventory Coordination: Liaise with the Shipping and Warehouse teams to verify slab availability, monitor finished-goods inventory, and ensure orders are fully staged and crated on time for install or delivery.
- Shop Floor Oversight & Safety: Monitor fabrication workflow across cutting, polishing,



and assembly areas to eliminate bottlenecks, maintain equipment readiness, and enforce plant safety standards (OSHA/silica compliance).
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to reduce material waste, optimize slab yield, and streamline shop throughput.

Qualifications

- Experience: 2–4+ years of supervisory or production coordination experience in stone fabrication, countertop manufacturing, millwork, or custom building materials.
- Technical Skills: Robust ability to read and interpret shop drawings, CAD files, and architectural cut sheets.
- Workflow Management: Experience managing shop schedules, routing jobs across multi-step fabrication lines, and tracking work-in-progress (WIP).
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate between shop technicians, project managers, and logistics personnel.
- Attention to Detail: High standard for craftsmanship and precision quality control in natural stone, quartz, or solid surfaces.

Preferred Qualifications

- Hands-on familiarity with stone fabrication equipment (Bridge saws, CNC routers, waterjets, edge polishers).
- Experience with fabrication management or ERP software (e.g., Moraware/JobTracker, ActionFlow, StoneApp, or similar).
- Knowledge of OSHA silica safety standards and stone handling protocols.

Pay: $30.00-$33.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 35.0 per week
