Role Overview
The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) will support the delivery of pediatric OT services under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist. This role involves implementing treatment plans, supporting fine‑motor, sensory, and functional skill development, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement OT treatment plans as directed by the supervising OT
- Support children in developing fine‑motor, sensory‑motor, self‑regulation, and functional life skills
- Prepare therapy materials, activities, and session setups
- Document session notes and progress according to clinic standards
- Communicate effectively with the supervising OT, families, and clinic staff
- Maintain a safe, organized, and child‑friendly therapy environment
- Participate in team meetings, training, and case discussions as required
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Experience working with children, neurodiverse populations, or sensory‑based interventions is an asset
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow clinical direction and adapt activities to client needs
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening
