Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 321-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Director of Strategic Projects and Change Management is currently seeking a Change Manager. The Change Manager will support Waypoint's strategic plan by providing leadership and coaching and expertise in change management initiatives that build and sustain the organization's capacity to manage change and growth. Using change management best practices, this role will develop and lead change management plans in collaboration with project sponsors and champions to engage and empower people, build readiness and ownership, and support the successful adoption and sustainability of major strategic initiatives, enabling the achievement of desired outcomes.
This role will focus on the people side of change and serve as an enabler of organizational transformation, supporting the development and implementation of a framework that builds change management capability across Waypoint. The Change Manager will lead change management planning and activities for strategic and organizational initiatives, while providing coaching, training and support to leaders, staff and champions to cultivate an inclusive and empowering culture where people are empowered to drive positive change.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead change management initiatives across the organization, fostering an inclusive and empowering approach that enables people and teams to embrace and sustain positive change.
- Apply standardized change management framework (e.g. ADKAR) and processes to assess change impacts, engage stakeholders, build readiness, and support successful adoption and sustained change.
- Develop and lead change management plans for major strategic projects, connecting people to the purpose of the change and supporting successful adoption and achievement of desired outcomes.
- Provide change management consultation and support to leaders implementing change initiatives, enabling them to engage, inspire and empower their teams throughout the change journey
- Coach leaders and staff at all levels to build confidence,
readiness and capability to navigate change, supporting individuals and teams to learn, grow and thrive throughout transitions.
- Identify and analyze potential barriers to change, develop strategies that foster an inclusive and empowering culture, support people to learn, grow and thrive, build confidence and readiness, and empower individuals and teams to drive positive change.
- Work with Project Managers to integrate change management activities with project plans, ensuring the people, culture and adoption dimensions of change are considered alongside technical implementation.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Communications Team, as appropriate, to develop and/or review communication plans, sponsor roadmaps, coaching plans, training plans, resistance mitigation plans and sustainability plans that engage people, build understanding and support successful adoption of change.
- Play a leadership role in the ongoing development and evolution of the corporate change management training program, building organizational capability and supporting continuous learning and development.
- Conduct change management assessments to understand organizational impacts, stakeholder needs, readiness and opportunities to support successful change.
- Evaluate and support user readiness prior to go-live, engage and working with designated champions to build confidence, support communication and adoption, and empower individuals and teams to successfully implement and sustain change.
- Define and measure change success indicators and monitor progress, including user adoption, engagement, readiness and sustainability, to demonstrate impact and inform continuous improvement.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Leadership, Business, Psychology or a related degree
- Master's degree in public administration, business administration, or healthcare administration preferred
- Certification or formal training in change management (e.g., Prosci Certified Change Practitioner, Certified Change Management Professional, or an equivalent recognized credential)
- A suite of training / certification that includes one or more of: coaching/facilitation, teaching and training, quality improvement, project management (completed or in progress) considered an asset
- 3-5 years of qualified experience in a similar change management role, preferably in a complex healthcare setting
- Experience and knowledge of change management and project management principles, methodologies and tools
- Demonstrated experience in the areas of leadership, building/leading working relationships and teams, coaching, teaching, and communication
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships, gain credibility, and network effectively with partners at all levels across the Hospital and with external partners
- Excellent active listening, communication, and presentation skills and the ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences, to influence key interest holders in a large, complex and rapidly changing environment.
- Exceptional listening skills and keen emotional intelligence to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management, staff in a variety of programs and departments, and working groups
- Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative results and use numbers and stories to tell a compelling story in an informative, understandable and meaningful way.
- Proven conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage stressful issues and situations with calm, tact, and diplomacy.
- Problem solving, root cause identification, and organizational skills with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics.
- Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
- Proven ability to adapt readily to change and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with and through others, developing coalitions by building effective partnerships and networks across a wide range of partners to achieve results, mobilize knowledge, and navigate complex organizational environments, consistent with the LEADS framework.
- Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills.
