Manager, Design & Drafting
Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Edmonds C01

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid
Annual salary: $ 109,700.00 - 138,700.00
What you'll do
The successful candidate will:
- Manage a team of approximately 25 MoveUp employees in a complex, fast-paced environment responsible for drafting
and drawing management services for Distribution Design project work throughout the province.
- Manage the maintenance of Distribution drafting standards and drawing control functions.
- Work collaboratively with Design managers in Operations to evaluate and improve processes and maintain quality of
deliverables.
- Participate in and contribute to CADD initiates and support and implement changes on business improvement objectives.
- Oversee the drafting aspects of the overhead and underground Distribution system.
- Plan, implement, direct, and control drafting work for distribution design projects
- Support the development of Advanced Design initiatives, the Distribution Design Modernization Project, and AI capabilities
- Establish and implement procedures, strategies,
and workflows to produce high quality, timely, safe, reliable, and
economical deliverables.
- Liaise with a broad range of stakeholders including but not limited to IT, Distribution Design & Customer Connections,
Project delivery, Engineering Design, Engineering Services, Drawing Management, Project Management, T&D; System
Operations, and Line & Stations Field Crews.
- Ensure the proper application of technical drafting standards and BC Hydro requirements.
- Must be willing and able to travel, on occasion, throughout the province to conduct visits as required to support and
manage assigned staff in regional offices.
- Measure and manage work management and other performance metrics for the group.
- Secure resources, equipment, and materials to optimize and efficiently complete work
- Manage and administer employee performance under the Collective Agreement
- Oversee and provide direction to regular and contingent resources for work program
- Oversee and manage contract performance measures for delivery, quality, and value.
What you bring
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of a Diploma of Technology in a relevant technical discipline with at least 8 years’ demonstrated experience
through progressively more responsible roles.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience with computer-based drafting (AutoDesk products), mapping, management
information systems, and graphics.
- Experience with process optimization and change management preferred.
- Candidates with alternate education and/or experience backgrounds may also be considered.
- Extensive knowledge of the electrical/civil/structural drafting components of Distribution projects.
- Demonstrated organization, planning, financial, and people leadership and management skills.
- Previous management experience in a unionized setting is an asset.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation and client focus in a high-volume environment is an asset.
- Proven ability to develop creative and innovative business solutions.
- Proven ability to foster a positive, productive, and safe working environment for employees and contractors.
- Working knowledge of BC Hydro systems, policies, and procedures including the MoveUp collective agreement, health
and safety, and environment.
